I adopted Angus on Oct 18th.

Today marks the 3rd time he has been like this. He will find a place to hide and just lay there.

Last two times went like this:

Emergency vet $250 for nothing. He got an antibiotic shot. Fine the next day

Non-Emergency vet, had to wait for appt but Angus was back to normal after a day

Angus is out of it. I am sad and worried.

I dont want to blow a bunch of $$$ on "exploration " tests.

He has been tested twice for leukemia.

Symptoms dont seem like UTI.

Angus is a 2 year old male kitty. He was never a feral cat.

He will only eat dry food, refuses wet food.

I have another cat that is 10. I have had him for 8 years. Nothing ever wrong with him even though he is missing a tooth and spends a lot of time outside.

More information. What test have been done? What food are you feeding? What is his urine pH (assuming a urinalysis was done). What wet foods have you tried? There are hundreds out there. Wet food much, much better and more bio appropriate for cats.

How is red blood cell count? My cat was anaemic and had similar symptoms. Check his gums- they should be bubble-gum pink. If they are pale he is anemic and could need a blood transfusion.

My cat is still on steroids; she could barley walk, no appetite, a bit cold, lethargic, would not play, always hiding. I nearly lost here and nobody knows the exact cause but she is MUCH better now after two scary months.

Any other symptoms? Licking or eating strange things like litter or concrete?

I woudn't personally describe running tests on his as blowing money.  Your cat is very  sick, and with no obvious cause a vet is going to want to investigate this.  This means testing, blood tests, urine, full physical exam, maybe even imaging if nothing else turns up, and supportive therapies.  If he has a low temp, heating pads may help him be more comfortable but i would suggest he needs a fully committed vet and cat parent to save his life.....alternatively, if he doesn't bounce back and continues to languish, then humane euthanasia might be a kind option if you don't want him to suffer and can't get a diagnosis.

Sorry to have to share this but Angus was put down this morning.

He had another episode over Christmas and this time it took him 2 days to be normal again.

Early this morning he was super lovable. All he wanted was to be petted.

I left for some physical training and after I got home my wife said something was wrong, he could not move his hind legs.

The vet said his outlook was grave. They said blood clot.

No pulse in hind legs

Hind legs were cooler than front paws

Yellowing of skin

Vet said $350 for an ultrasound to confirm clot, I said no thanks. Angus was screaming in pain.

Goodbye Angus kitty. You had heart disease that ultimately got to you.

Happened pretty much like that with our Will. He was betw 2 and 3. No sign of heart disease and then gone in a week. So sorry for your loss.
