Do all cats necessarily get worms?

I'm new to your site.  I'll start with a question:  I've had my three cats for a couple of years without any problems.  A friend of mine said that "All Cats Get Worms".  I've never seen any evidence of that problem with my cats.  What is the true story about cats and worms please.  Thanks in advance.

The short version is your friend is not correct in terms of their certainty.  The longer version: indoor adult cats are not at risk of worms.  Kittens are always dewormed as as they often have them.  Cat who go outside are at increased risk of worms, some come from fleas, others from eating food sources that are contaminated.  Cats with worms will typically have loose stool.  If your cat goes outside he/she should have a monthly anti flea treatment and an annual stool sample at the vet.
