good morning, and Happy Holidays!!!

it's been a very busy week for us. we've had contractors doing home improvements, which has been stressful for both the cats and myself -- but a necessary and really good thing. i *think* we'll have only one more day of work to get done, and that will be once the glass blocks for the basement windows have come in -- they had to be ordered.

i did manage to bake the cake that i'd mentioned here and there, in various threads here at TCS.

so with these thoughts on my mind, for today's Question of the Day......

Are you having a dessert today? and... If so, what kind of dessert?

i'll start!

i'll be having a slice of the 3-layer carob cake with carob cream cheese buttercream!
this was the first time i've baked a layer cake from scratch, i usually prefer to bake bundt cakes or use a 9x13 pan for them. also the first time i've made a frosting from scratch -- i usually don't frost my cakes, but sometimes sprinkle powdered sugar over the tops of them. i got 13 slices out of the cake, a 'baker's dozen' -- including the crumbs, which were enough for one serving. i really enjoyed making this cake!

okay, now it's your turn!

I don't enjoy cooking so my desserts are usually shop bought or made by some kind friend.

I love hot and cold mix. My favourite is hot blackcurrent pie and vanilla ice cream. Mmmm

I'm really glad your cake turned out so well. Kudos!

Today, we're doing our little holiday brunch. Desserts will be just sticky buns and assorted Christmas cookies.

Our Christmas meal is Monday and our desserts will be a peanut butter swirl cheesecake (homemade) and the white coconut layer cake (bakery-bought).

We're driving to my daughter's place for breakfast this morning, in the heavy fog, and praying that the drizzle doesn't freeze. I'm bringing a plate of homemade candy for dessert, homemade salted nut rolls, chow mein noodle drops (mine and everybody's favorite, with butterscotch chips, peanuts and marshmallows!) and Scotcharoos which I haven't made in a long time! I have to get them out of the house or we will eat every one in short order, I guess New Years is for losing those extra pounds.

Good morning, & Merry Christmas to everyone!
I will be going to my parents for dinner. We are having lasagna. Something my mom started a few yrs bk, not wanting g to go through all the turkey & sides again so soon after just doing it for Thanksgiving. (& My dad is Italian anyway, so..)
This year, I made dessert. I made a chocolate fudge cake (box mix), & a homemade caramel sea salt frosting!.
I borrowed my mom's 9" pans, & made a 3 layer! I also decorated it w/ pecans. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
I had enough left over from 2 boxes for 9 cup cakes, so I've tasted it already, & it's really good.
I will definitely be making this one again!

Oh, your cake looks beautiful.

I'm by myself today and I'm just having some left over store brought peach cobbler. I'm just not able to do any baking.

Nope no desserts. Just have in a very small Christmas this year. My husband worked yesterday 3pm to today 8am and has same shift today. So he is only home a few hours so not making a huge meal

We don't have a specific dessert for Christmas.  There are the requisite Christmas cookies and candy around if someone is so inclined.  By  this time many of us are kind of burned out on the sweets and heavy foods in general.  I am starting to crave a simple salad with a very small amount of a light dressing.  I will probably go to the store tomorrow for romaine lettuce and an assortment of salad type raw veggies.

Not being much of a baker these days, I'll be enjoying some Christmas Oreos for desert.  Everyone else's treats sound amazing.

Oh, oh, oh!
I forgot I had some delicious homemade lemon drop cookies that someone gave us last night.

When I found those, I had dessert after breakfast!
