Okay

All my kitties that have passed have died from natural causes I haven't witnessed.

Coyote ugly eaten. Vanish in the night. They dodge me, want to hold them close, but they run away.

Cats are the wild, DOMESTIC? hah!

Grandma is old, and I think she's going to die from natural causes I'll witness. Drink drink lots of water. Vet says, arm on shoulder. She's so sweet. But, she's weakening. Shhh, baby, love you any way.

So, what are the obvious signs? No tumors. No vomiting, no uncontrollable defecating. Just, SPACE, loss. Limp, but still feisty. Shh, still love you.

Time is coming, maybe say when?

More or less?

(Would you rather bury your cats or have them bury you?)

Much rather bury my little ones then not know what would become of them. None of my family is able to help, they either don't like cats or are too old. I cry every time I see an older cat at the shelter,  owner died, the sign says, they are so scared and confused. They don't deserve that.  I have an almost sixteen year old who is failing too, the lost weight, the loss of energy, it is heartbreaking. But at least he got 16 years, he is loved and pampered and is the most loving cat i have ever had, he is a mama's boy. I will have him die at home, vet trips are just too terrifying fro him, and with an enlarged heart, just not worth it anymore. If he lingers on in obvious pain and agony, I will have the vet come to my house.Working with the elderly, I know how long the end of life can extend, the suffering that can happen. Our little ones are so lucky they have someone there that loves them to the end, cares and can end that suffering if it needs to be ended, I wish the same for our human loved ones. Don't extend their suffering with feeding tubes and  artificial breathing, this is for your benefit, not theirs. Love them all while you can, make their time left here on this earth a little nicer because you are there to love and care for them. And when the time comes, let them go with a kiss.

That is helpful!

Thanks!

More or less in keeping with Di and Bob's comments, I spoil Grandma a bit. I give her bits of Chicken pot pie chicken, bits of cheese, and, especially, bits of grilled steak. (Better than cat nip!)

She doesn't have that dulcet meow; she kinda croaks instead. But she still gives a nice head-butt.

Scrawniness is an obvious sign, as is very obviously increased water consumption. IME, a lot of cats become clingier as their time draws near and welcome a lot of shared quiet time together and frequent small meals of their favorite foods and treats. Our Jamie wanted me to lie on the bed with him for hours on end during his last months, so I got a lot of reading done, but little else when I was home.

It's a tough time to go through, knowing you're going to lose them in the foreseeable future and hoping that the end is easy. :vibes::vibes::vibes:

Not scrawny, but skinny. She is drinking a lot of water, though I haven't done a scientific test.

I don't feel any growths, but she doesn't like being held as she used to.
