Good morning!
And Happy Friday!
I don't know if I'm happier about Christmas being this weekend or if it's the four-day weekend.

Christmas question for you this morning: What will you be doing on Christmas Eve?

We are going to over to my sister's house on Saturday night. My niece and nephew-in-law are coming home tonight and we're all going to get together tomorrow. She's making a peppermint cheesecake, I'm taking a couple dips and some munchies, some fudge, and some almond brittle. And the Smirnoff. It will be a fun night and I'm looking forward to just relaxing for a while. (And spending some time with Harley, one of my favorite fur-nephews.
 )

What about you?

We spend Christmas eve with Bob's 83 year old folks, we celebrate with a ham dinner and scalloped potatoes and have a gift exchange after. Then Christmas morning we drive to North Platte for breakfast with our daughter, son in law, and grandson. Then we exchange gifts too, my sister is coming from Denver, and my mother will be there too.

We are expecting THUNDERSTORMS Christmas day, 90% chance of rain, temps in the 50's.. That will be odd, we are usually in the 30's and low 40's this time of year, and lows in the teens. Our lows will be normal highs for us the next few days!  We are getting a little bit of rain this AM, .17 so far,  the temp is 30 degrees and it's starting to freeze, I was sliding around when I went out to feed the cats this morning, only one customer waiting.  I hope we don't have freezing rain Christmas morning!

The in-laws are coming for Christmas Eve dinner. My father-in-law has requested bratwurst and German potato salad this year, so I don't have much cooking to do. We'll exchange gifts afterwards.

I had planned to cook a turkey breast with all the trimmings. The plan changed when a neighbor caught oysters and brought us a bucketful. I will be cooking them. I think my brother-in-law is coming to help us eat them. We will steam a few. I will make oyster fritters and serve them to hubby with a bowl of collards and some sweet potatoes. That is his very favorite meal.

We'll be having dinner with my stepdaughter and her in-laws.  There will be lots of seafood and pasta.  I'll bring a lentil salad.  We'll bring the grandkids' gifts to them but they don't open them until the next morning.

I'm hoping to sleep in on Christmas morning!  Well, until the cats demand their breakfast, anyway.

DD is working today, tomorrow and Sunday from 8-430. We don't have any plans. It will be more or less a typical weekend. I have stuff to do around the house. I need to groom Miss Sophiesaurus who seems to get fluffier every day. We do a little every day depending on how much patience she has. Her sass is growing along with her fluff.

My Christmas Eve will be like every other night, with one exception.  My former supervisor sent me a big cooler full of steaks from Omaha Steaks for Christmas so I will be having a much different meal than my usual.  Chula and Paul will benefit from this as well.

Christmas Eve, My cousin has an open house for his family and his wife's family.. a few close friends show up also.. it is really nice, and a lot of people... lots of kids, actually late teens who go upstairs to the second floor. The adults, us older people have the main floor.. tons of food...it will be a very late night. One cousin does not show up until really late, around 11pm-midnight....if I can stay up, I will wait to see them..if not, then I will be home.. it is a 30 minute drive, so I do not care to drive when I am sleepy or drinking..

Christmas Morning, I always go to the first mass.. it is at 7:30 AM.... I will be home for a bit, and then over to my other cousin's for Dinner, around 1:30pm...this will be smaller.. just my cousin, his wife, their son, daughter-in-law and the 3 boys...

My dear friend and neighbor, Suzanne, is coming over for my traditional grits casserole and baked fruit dessert casserole.  We'll exchange our gifts on Christmas Eve,  then Hekitty and I will do Santa and each other's gifts on Christmas Day (and skypes with my boys, O JOY!)

Four-day weekend? I see that the pre-school next door is closed today, but everyone else seems to be working.

Tomorrow I will get up at 6 a.m. to do whatever cleaning needs doing. Husband is very hostile when I clean so try to do it when he is not around. Then will do laundry. When I'm finished with all that in the early afternoon will relax with Netflix. Looking forward to 10 a.m. mass on Sunday, which is televised.

I work from 7am-3:30pm tomorrow.  We are going out to eat at a restaurant with my family tomorrow night for Christmas Eve dinner.  On Christmas day I am off and we will open presents and enjoy a meal with my parents at their house.

I'm going to finish a bit of Christmas shopping with my brother. I still have to buy a few things for my dad and something for my brother behind his back.

I want to get my mom something else, too but not sure what yet. She requested dark chocolate, but she is diabetic. It won't hurt her, she savors it and can keep a candy bar for a few days while I can't.

I'll figure out something. She loves the brookside chocolate that has nuts and fruit. Personally I like it too it's so tasty! So I will probably end up with that although my dad bought her a bag already, what's one more? And then when we get back to my parents house we're going to watch movies and munch on snacks. We're not really having dinner tomorrow just snacks and dessert. :) My mom bought a key lime pie for her and my brother (they aren't into chocolate pies) and a chocolate silk pie for me and my dad.

I just found out that I was diabetic on Wednesday. I love chocolate candy and I brought a bag of Turtles and a couple bags of Lindor white chocolate a couple weeks ago.

I hate to throw them away so I figured I would savor one every once in awhile. No one in my family will want them.

...with the cats...
my main plan was to give my cats their 'sharing' gift on Christmas Eve, after i'd finished the chores. i ended up giving them that gift, a Kong 8-track ball track, in the early afternoon -- i was doing a few smallish projects around the house, so didn't want to make them wait longer for their gift.

nothing else planned for our Christmas Eve, but i did go to bed pretty early -- around 8:30pm or so.
