How much does your girl weigh at this point?  I would not wait much longer to spay her.  Your boy will be fertile for up to a month after his neuter, and she will start to go into heat any time now.  It's a risk that I would be uncomfortable with.  Is it possible that they are older than 5 months?

They're adorable.  Thank you for taking them in.

As far as I am aware they are 5 months, she weighs about 2.25lbs. right now & is much smaller then her brother in size as well. He is about 5.5lbs.

He should be alittle over 6lbs. & she should be just under 5lbs. based on size.

She is fluffier then her brother so looks just a tad smaller but when you put hands on her she is tiny. Everyone is in agreement about our spay/neuter plans

THANK YOU for making those spay and neuter plans, and yes, I would want her to gain some weight before being spayed, even though here in the US, they do early-age spay/neuter and the minimum weight is 2 pounds.

Good that the mite medicine is helping.

She is so gorgeous!  I usually wait and the right name will come to me in time --I  believe the cat will let his or her caregiver know, one way or another

Our best cat furniture was bought on amazon and it is made by GO Pet Club.  It's close to 6 feet tall and has lots of sisal-covered upright posts, plus several faux fur platforms and a "crow's nest" at the very top.  It comes flat packed with assembly instructions and necessary hardware.  We really love ours!

I thought Go Pet Club sounded familiar, they sell on ebay also. I just picked up an 6' made by BestPet for $50.01, through auction. I think there are some great prices that you can just buy the cat furniture out right. I just wanted to see what would happen by auction.

It does come in parts, that just need to be screwed together. I have pulled the parts out of the box and I like the quality.

I have a super tall Molly and Friends cat tower.  I have had it for about 7 years and it still looks great.  It was expensive but my cats (two) still love it and they are quite spoiled.  I like that it has supports on the outside that the cats can climb directly up to the top.  It is great exercise for them, especially when they are chasing each other.    It is good that you are getting a tree as it is great for cats to have a place where they feel safe and can view everything from big above.

Anyone have an idea why the female only eats canned food & why she will only eat while being held?
Because she can get away with it
Seriously, though, what happens if you put the food dish just out of reach (so she needs to get out of your hold to eat)? Do you hold her so that Oliver doesn't eat her food? If you can coax her to eat next to you and continue in slow increments until she eats all on her own, perhaps that would free up your arms and time. If you'd prefer to feed her dry food, start with just a few kibbles mixed into her canned food and slowly add more. (Of course, with her needing to gain weight at this point, it sounds best to keep her on what she'll eat.) Hope that's helpful! You're brave being mom to all 3 babes
Good luck!

Thank you...I free feed kibble as well (Oliver is happy about that) I started seeing her show a little interest in the kibble but she still needs some encouragement thankfully Oliver seems to be helping her with that as well we started giving them canned food right next to each other in 2 bowls (Oliver is growing like a weed...& eatinv like a hog!) & she will eat while he is eating too now.

This morning we may have had a HUGE leap backwards in socialization however I also am the Moma to some fantastic little birds as well (I am a die hard Bird person) & my fiance left the bathroom door open & she went exploring & discovered them thankfully I was able to hear what was going on & get to them in time (she was trying her hardest to get in to them) to prevent any real issues not to mention my birds are in a good cage with extra door securements so no damage was done but needless to say so was scared off by me running to their aid. I am just massively thankful no one got hurt that my toddler & kitty proofing paid off today for my Parrotlets.

For my own peace of mind I think I'm going to upgrade them in cage.

I have never had an issue with my past cats & the birds so hopefully we can get them both to ignore them with some time. It just took me off guard this morning.

For little girls still doesn't have a name and she has a secondary ear infection in her right ear from the ear mites, Oliver & her left ear are clearing up nicely.

Every name I like for her my fiance keeps shutting down so hopefully we can come up with one soon.

Well back on Amazon I go to find a even better bird cage (I should really thank her I've been wanting to buy them a new cage for a while but didn't have the excuse to and justify it to my fiance) & still debating between cat condos

My cats and birds have always gotten along too so I think you will be able to work it out in time.  But, if the cats and birds have been kept separate maybe the cats didn't recognize them as family members... In the wild, that's dinner.  :)

Hope the ear infection goes away quickly -- those are awful! and hope you find what you want, at a good price.  Yeah, if a cat isn't raised around birds, a cat won't know they're family and may see them as potential prey, so I would absolutely separate them via a cage for the birds or keep them in an off-limits-to-cats area.  Safe is good.

They're beautiful.  They'll come around in time.  I stayed with my mom and little sister for a couple months after coming home.  We adopted Storm and then my sister got a kitten that we named Pumpkin.  She was semi feral.  She was born in a house but the owner paid little to no attention to any of them.  She had a hard time catching Pumpkin for us.  When we got her home, she did for 2 weeks - only coming out at night to eat and potty.  I thought she would never come near us.  I was cuddling Storm and told her she should explain to Pumpkin that we were nice and would give her love and snuggles.  Storm took off behind the washer and they some kitty noises.  Storm came back out, then Pumpkin came out, jumped up on my lap, and started nuzzling and purring.  She was a completely different cat.  I never would have believed she'd been scared and aloof.  From then on, she wanted CONSTANT attention.  She always had to sleep with one of us and if we didn't keep a hand on her, she would wake us up so the hand would go back on her head or back or wherever.  I swear, no exaggeration.  She made a complete 180.  Storm must have talked to her like I asked.  *Yes, I'm a crazy cat lady, but I didn't hallucinate this*  So, maybe your little lady will all of a sudden decide she wants and likes attention.  And then never leave you alone.

I recommend against getting a cat tree at Wal*Mart.  We did.  It's very wobbly.  I hate it.  I googled GO Pet Club and I wish I'd known about them 7 months ago.  There's one that is less expensive than the one I got from Wal*Mart and looks A LOT nicer.  I'm buying a new tree with tax money.

GO Pet Club trees ARE nice.  We have a tall one and love it.  But you do have to tighten the bolts from time to time, as with any assemble-it-yourself furniture, especially if you have large and/or active cats using it.

And I'm maybe one of 10 or fewer human beings that have never set foot inside, or bought anything from, Walmart, on principle.

Lucky you.  Wal*Mart is the only store we have around here.  Small town and all.  We have another grocery store, but they're a lot more expensive.  Other than that, we just have a couple of clothing stores and a Home Depot.  I would shop exclusively at the other grocery store, but I can't afford it.  Dinner for the next couple of days is gonna be toast and jelly.  We have hamburger patties, but we're saving those for Aislyn.

I hear you loud and clear.  It is TRULY deplorable what so many are enduring in these times.  And I have friends who do or have work(ed) for Walmart; they were/are treated terribly and pressure put on them all the time at work.  They also live in an area where it's the only game in town.  But now, they travel to go to another store because they despise that place so much.

In a nearby community, in the early 2000s, they tried to force a wonderful business out to take over their site -- this business had been in existence since before WWII and had a very loyal customer base, many of whom signed a petition to stop the takeover.  We actually SUCCEEDED! and that business is still there now.  The business had been carefully protected during the war by caring people, who returned it to the owners, who had been in an internment camp during the war, after it ended.  Quite a story.

Eh, the only store that got forced out here when Walmart opened was terrible :/. They never had anything good and their prices were awful. But they were the only choice in town at the time so people had to shop there. Walmart is better than they are at least.

But I agree about cat trees! Amazon has an excellent selection at all price levels. Go! Pet Club is OK but I prefer Armarkat if they have a similar model. And make sure to get one with 3 or 4 legs to the ground. . .I once made the mistake of buying one with only 2 points on the ground and it was very tippy :/. Whatever you get, I'm sure they'll love it!

We used to have a K*Mart.  We lost it thanks to Wal*Mart.  A lot of smaller businesses went under, too.  And the stupid city councilmen signed a contract saying that Wal*Mat had to approve any new businesses who wanted to come to town for the next 10 years - then RENEWED that stupid contract a couple years ago.  I mean, come on.  Wal*Mart isn't going to leave.  They've got the market cornered on a college town (a university and two colleges) that also contains 2 factories and a hog farm.  Not to mention, this is a very rural area so this Wal*Mart is used by this town in addition to 10 or so smaller surrounding towns.  Why would they leave a goldmine like this?

I won't even say what they are, because this is a pretty family-friendly site.  But it's like so much else right now: the bullies strongarm everyone, and get away with it.

Finally we chose a name, took long enough...Her name is Chloe.

Oliver is getting friendlier & friendlier by the day & even purrs at being pet though is still a little wary of us but he's awfully curious and making huge strides I'm pretty sure he's going to be a cuddle bug once he gets over his fear.

He loves to play with toys (something that he didn't do when I first got him) & really seems to enjoy drowning his toys in the water bowl...lol

Chloe is still painfully shy, she is eating though & I got her to come out from her hiding place for treats though she was still a good 6' away from me that is HUGE for her. It is taking a lot more time to earn her trust but at this point I think it is safe to say that she is more shy & nervous in general than afraid of us wbich is progress.

Health wise everything is looking good, we are all happy with them on that front. She is still thin but better then she was & they are a breeze to groom, they don't even struggle when they get their nails clipped.

That's a lot of great news -- so glad to hear that Chloe has a name and that she is becoming more confident in her new home!  Oliver sounds like he is making great progress and settling in as a beloved family member.  Some of my cats have enjoyed drowning their toys in the past, too
  Maybe they are part raccoon?!
