My cats name is Charlie. He is seven months old and has had GI problems when he was a kitten. For the past month or so he throws up once every day. its always been in the evening time. We always keep his bowl full of food. he has a small bowl and only eats around 2 bowls a day. His throw up is typically solid. And has chunks of food in it. Today when he threw up it was completely liquid. My husband says that he noticed that when he throws up typically his water bowl is empty. We don't have money to take him to the vet right now. we are trying to help it at home so that we don't have to give him away. any ideas of why he is throwing up and how to stop it?

Can you tell us what you are feeding him?

I'm not sure I understand you, you say that you think he's drinking all the water in his bowl before he throws up?

He needs to go to a vet. If you don't have the funds look at using care credit or finding a vet that takes payments. This could be a food intolerance or something more serious but he's clearly uncomfortable so you need to find a way to get him treated. It sounds like you're feeding kibble, and kibble is often hard to digest and a trigger for some cats. Try offering him some easy to digest wet food, like fancy feast (classic line only).

Does he eat quickly?  Some cats who eat too fast will vomit.  Wet food could also help.  1/4 of a 10mg Pepcid AC pill once a day could help, but you should talk to a vet before starting any treatment as its better to know the underlying cause then just treat the symptoms.  Vet costs vary obviously by region and country bu t in the USA a simple vet exam is usually under $100, often under $75 and the sooner he sees a vet, typically the cheaper it will be.  If the only other option is to rehome him, rehoming a sick cat can be very difficult.
