We were thinking of showing or Egyptian Mau kitten Zeus what age does he have to be before he is classed as a cat and not a kitten for showing.

Wonderful you want to participate! Its a lot of work, excitement, and fun!

Re your question - it depends on what Association you do belong to. and exactly what class you want to participate in.  I understand it will be the PureBred classes, so there we do have the intact group and the neutered group..  Where there may be partly different rules.

You are in Scotland, so I presume it will be the british GCCF (?).

How old is your kitten?

Do I read you right, as you dont want to show him as a kitten, you want to participate in the adult class?

Hi StefanZ,  He is registered with the GCCF and neutered I didn't know there was so many classes you could enter we were thinking of waiting till he was older he's just turned 8 months old. And can you enter a GCCF cat in a Tica show.

Let me say first, I only show in CFA, but I believe you can 'try out' TICA without your cat being registered with them. However I don't think any awards you may win would count.

I too think its allowed to participate "outside of competition", if you belong to some other established association.  This is done quite often esp if the cat in question is unusual breed or someting.

Of course, do ask first at the association / and or organizer of the show.  Do it as early as you can, most shows are filled up quickly, so they want everythign to be so so weeks befoer the actual Show. At least, its so in the european Fife.

But even coming as visitor to a show, looking, seeing, observing learns you much.  You can also wander around and talk with the owners / breeders.  Most are very friendly and talkative, eager to tell all the ropes and giving advices to a new be.

For my country, kittens enter the adult group and are valid for champion points from the age of 10 months old. I know in many countries this is the same, but I am not sure about your country. It is easiest to read the rules of the show you are willing to participate in or to ask them when he can join the CAC or CAP (if nutured) class.

:yeah: Each association will have its own rules. In CFA kittens must be at least 4 months old on the first day of a show. The day they turn 8 months old they move into the adult class. I've never shown in TICA, but I believe their age requirements are the same. Other associations have different age requirements.
