Hello,

I am making an appointment to get my cats spayed. One of them is currently in heat. How can I estimate when it will pass? I was told it is usually a week or so but I'm truly unsure. I want to make sure that when I take her it has passed. Any insight would be helpful!

Happy Holidays!

Hello

Thanks for replying to my post :-)! One of them is 8 months old and the other is 1 year and 5 months. The 8 month old started the heat maybe a day or two ago. I saw her rolling around and meowing and rubbing herself on all my stuff!

I would book for a week from now. They can spay when she's in heat if she happens to still be in heat, or back in heat. Please be so, so careful that they don't get out!

Absolutely!!! I never let them out because I'm too afraid hahaha. But they do enjoy staring out my window :-) so they can continue to do so! Hehehehe, Thank you very much for your help! Happy Holidays!!!

You are going to have to watch her like a hawk because they are incredibly good at finding ways to get out when they are in heat. They can escape like little Houdinis in fur coats.  Hopefully there are no intact males living near you or they will be serenading her outside the windows. You will not mistake them for Sinatra or Tony Bennett!

Hahahahahaha little Houdinis in fur coats!!!! I absolutely do though. I'm so afraid of them getting out, it's a huge fear I have so I always make sure everything is locked and if they are near by the windows, they need to be closed and secured. We actually do have a street cat who sometimes comes around the backyard, but I do not know if he is male or female! The young one is the one that's in heat and she is being SO VOCAL!! SO SO LOUD!! Until I get the appointment I'm just trying to make them as comfortable as I can. And of course making sure they aren't seeing any male kitties out the window heheheheh
