Thank you! Ill be doing research on Somali's for sure! Sorry havent been on here, very busy lately! A couple of other questions I have are: whats an affective way to get rid of ear mites and how can I help her not look so grubby under her chin area? We do feed all natural food from the local vet as he suggested it for her dry skin and said it would help with her fur. Thank you again!!

If you could get a picture of her chin, that would be helpful. Sometimes cats get acne on the chin. What kind of bowl do you use for feeding her?

Under her chin in the neck area, her fur always looks dirty and not clean? Even after a bath, which we dont do very much, her fur will still look dirty. When she was a kitten, it didnt look like that? Ill try 2 get a better picture soon.

My vet gave me something in a bottle that could be sprayed into the ears to get rid of mites. I don't remember the name of it. Also, I am not sure if you can buy anything from the pet store to take care of that.

My white cat got like that under her chin. The vet told me to use a stainless steel or ceramic bowl for feeding. Plastic is the worse kind to use. Be sure the bowl you feed the cat in is washed and clean every meal. He then told me to buy stridex pads for acne from the drugstore and use them to clean her chin. It worked.

It sounds like cat acne to me, which doesn't look like human acne but more like speckles of black dirt.  I agree with changing bowls to ceramic or glass, as apparently cat acne can be caused by bacteria caught in the micropores in plastic.  My cat, Brian, had acne on his chin, which completely cleared up after I switched his bowls to ceramic and washed his chin in antibacterial Hibiscrub.  He was a super clean cat, who was forever washing and nibbling his squeaky clean fur, so it wasn't caused by poor grooming.  And he most certainly wasn't stressed, as he was very relaxed and happy, however, cat acne can also be triggered by stress causing overactive sebaceous glands.

As for ear mites, I've always used olive oil on a soft cloth or kitchen paper to gently clean the ear, then squirted in a pin-pricked garlic oil capsule and gently massaged in.
