Kitten is now 4 months and a Mr., not a Miss like I originally thought. He was neutered Monday and I had them treat for the very persistent ear mites this poor little guy came with. When I asked questions at the clinic I got 3 different answers. Ugh
Does anyone know how much longer after treatment I need to keep the kitten isolated to prevent the spread of mites?
Also, looked at his ears tonight, all junky again, does this mean the treatment did not work or does it just take time?

Thanks

I don't have specific answers to your questions.  Did you ask the Vet's office before you left?  Do you have other pets, is that why he is isolated?  Ear Mites are only contagious to other animals, not to humans.

Did they only apply the Frontline Plus to him, or did they clean out his ears, and give you instructions to do the same, and apply any type of oily drops to his ears on a daily basis?  I thought that was the norm for ear mites, but I could be wrong.

If there is already a junkky build up, and they were all clear on Monday, then I would definitely contact the Vet and tell them.  It's possible you are dealing with more than mere ear mites here.

The vets office is where I got the 3 different answers. :( He is isolated from our other animals. For now he is in my son's room, so gets to sleep with my son all night (12 hrs) and my son plays with him in there during the day also.I will be calling the vets tomorrow, I meant to call today but today passed by in a blink of an eye. I was told whatever mites the animals are getting locally are particularly bad, tough to get rid of. :(
