I feed my cats in separate places, so don't have a feeding station.  Each one has their own placement and their own bowl.  I just go around at meal times and first drop the placemats where each one eats, then prepare their food and carry their bowls to their respective place mats.  Now that I'm down to just two cats, it's REALLY easy, but even when I had three cats, it wasn't difficult.  I just fed them in a line, one in the kitchen, one on the dining room table, and one in the living room, but it was still a straight line...I could stand at the kitchen sink and see them all.

I have 1 cat and 2 feeding stations, so I may not be the best example, but here goes...

Station 1 is in her safe room, which has a 1 qt stainless steel bowl (with silicone on the bottom to keep it in place) of kibble and a 60oz pioneer pet stainless steel pet fountain.     The kibble is Merrick kitten (though once it is empty I'm changing it to a grain free all life stages kibble, so that she gets some variety.)

Station 2 is her main feeding area in the kitchen   I have a 128oz pioneer pet big fountain (It was her Winter Solstace gift, and she loves and drinks from it all the time), another 1qt steel bowl of kibble (also Merrick kitten currently)  i also have a smaller steel bowl that I use for wet food (mostly Nutro kitten, but I also am experimenting with "U-stew")

Since my cat is a 5 month old kitten, I free feed the kibble as well as giving the wet food.

It's just me and King Bud, so no problems with multiple cats, but I did have to buy a water bowl that flanges out at the base and cannot be tipped over, because he likes to "play" with his water. I put the water bowl directly on the carpet so he can't tip it over. Otherwise he'd flip it over and, while I'm good about making sure he has fresh water in his bowl, I might not notice right away.

Then I have separate bowls for wet food (metal dish) and dry food (a ceramic dish). I put both of them on a small piece of wood left over from an old desk, which is less than an inch thick but makes it easier to avoid noms getting all over the carpet.

Speedy's feeding place has a plastic, two-sided bowl with dry food and a placemat for her wet can that I open, all on a platform block of 8 inches tall.  I raised her food because when she first came to me, she would hiccup after eating anything.  Since I elevated her food, the hiccups are gone.  I keep her water in the bathroom upstairs in a large pail.  How this came about may be a long story, but basically, I feared losing electricity one storm year and had placed a pail of water in the bathroom in case I lost water.  Well, who loved this idea?
Speedy was really drinking a lot of water and still is because I couldn't bear to take "her" pail away after the storms passed.  The pail actually is the same height as her chin so she just sits on the floor and drinks, as long as I keep it filled to the top.
This proves that I would do anything for her!

Ms. Gracie was developing a habit of knocking her water bowl over and batting her food bowl all over the kitchen.  Had my dad build this little feeding station for her.  It has solved those problems and she seems to like her eating area.  The wet food bowl is only there while she is actually eating.  She seems to sometimes enjoy standing in that empty hole while eating her dry food.

Have you ever tried to find a cat tree that has a base big enough to feed one cat? I'm curious to try it as I am trying to ease Grimmy's current stress level. She can't keep eating in the kitchen for various reasons but refuses to go back to the laundry room.

HA! Very nice tree though I would probably not attempt feeding there xD Looks like a decent place to hide snacks in however

I just have one cat so his feeding setup is pretty simple. I just have a small placemat on the kitchen floor which I put his bowl on top of. He likes to drag chunks out of his wet food and eat them outside the bowl sometimes so it helps keep the mess contained and when it gets too soiled, I can throw it in the washing machine. His water fountain is in a different room, he doesn't make a mess with it so I can just have it on the floor with no problems.

He gets dry food in a puzzle feeder and I just keep that confined to the kitchen since it's easy to see any crumbs that might get left behind and clean them up.

Feeding station for my boy is either on the kitchen counter where I prepare his meals or on the floor just down from the counter. It dosen't get further than that.
