When cleaning out an attic, you come across a pretty little bronze oil lamp.  You decide to clean it and use it in the living room, but when you start to rub it, a genie appears.  He is a minor genie, and can only grant you ONE wish, and it must be a personal wish.  WHAT DO YOU WISH FOR?

Remember, this wish must be PERSONAL, for you, yourself (although if you wish for money, you can certainly share it).

I want 12 million dollars.  Two million would go into a trust fund for my boys, although I would get the interest income during my life (about 100k per year, which is a comfortable living), and ten million would go into a charitable trust that would donate to several animal rescue groups, veterans groups, scolarships funds, etc.

Frankly, I'm weary of struggling for just the basics, although I don't care about being "rich," and  I would LOVE to support causes I believe in.  That would give me SUCH pleasure!

I'd wish to always be a healthy weight. No stressing over holiday treats or nutrition contents.

I would wish to be more talented in the things I'm currently a little bit good at.

I'd like to be fluent in Japanese, rather than able to get by in most situations. I'd like to be enormously talented artistically so I could actually make all the ideas I have look the way they do in my head. That way I'd be able to make a living as an artist and then I'd have enough money to buy more land and rescue more cats. I'd like to be much better at running and at horse riding so I could do those things the way I've always wanted to do. I'd like to be much better at yoga too, so I can do all of those impossible poses effortlessly.

I'd like to be able to sing and dance and write a lot better than I do too.

So if the magic minor genie could find my "ability" dial and turn it up as far as it will go I'd be happy.

I would wish to have any health issues I might have resolved so I am fit and energetic again, able to get much more done and alsothrowin12milliondollars and turnupmyabilitydial.

When I was younger I probably would have wished for enough money to buy a new car or new house.  However, as I age I realize money won't buy you good health so my wish is to have good health for my immediate family and self, (and live to 100).

I'd wish for three more wishes.

I would wish to be completely healthy.

That's got to be the understatement of the year!


If I had a single wish it would be to have a shelter/spay/neuter for cats in the city where I live. No such thing exists here though the need is dire. I would want enough money to have the shelter live on in perpetuity.

same as OP. be nice to have money to help my fellow cat rescue people.

But it has to be a personal wish, unless you want to run it yourself, and that would qualify!  You  could just ROLL in kitties all day long!

I like the idea of 12 million dollars, I could help my family, I could retire, I could help the kitties....

But they say all magic comes with a price ... so I wonder what price I would have to pay for $12 million..

I would definitely run it myself or, at least, I would be there every day.

Not if you dump it into blind trusts with specific payouts and the principal protected.  You only pay on the interest.  And the interest on 12 million at 5% is $600 per year. 

I would wish for  the plans to build an self cleaning kitty litter disposal unit that uses pellets instead of clay

Not easy to find something that pays 5% interest these days.

Somebody must have miscalculated. At 5% interest, that would be $600,000 per year on $12 million.

The stock market routinely generates 5% profit per year.
