Well, it was that time again to buy dry cat food and I've noticed Acana has decreased both their small & large sized bags.

From ~ 5 to 4 lbs.

From ~ 15 to ~ 12 lbs.

Unfortunately, the cost has remained the same, while the kcal / cup have decreased slightly.

Meanwhile, they advertise a higher % of 'fresh' meat.

Has anyone else noticed their brand of choice decreasing in quantity?

I glanced at a few other brands and noticed '4' lbs. seemed to be a newer smaller size.

I'm quite disappointed and this is not unique to pet foods either, as many of our own food products have decreased the size of packaging at the same price point.

Canada no longer ships to the US as they built their own facility in KY.  The US facility changed the formula also.
If you do a search you can find several different threads on this subject. I'm sorry for the disappointing news.

Champion Pet Foods, which owns Orijen and Acana changed their formulas this year. There's long thread about this if you search the nutrition forum for orijen. The changes aren't good, but it's still "better" kibble than most. However, if you aren't feeding mostly wet food now is a good time to start switching over.

I feed 1/2 wet, 1/2 dry.  My lifestyle doesn't allow for 100% wet, considering there are times I'm not available to put that fresh can of wet food down. Besides, my little gal drinks plenty of water. C'est la vie.

Most brands across the board have reduced the weight, while maintaining price.  My complaint revolves around 'less for more $' idea - an unfortunate sign of the times we're in.
