Hi. My orange and white nuetered boy, Pumpkin, has been battling a skin condition since Jan.! Almost a year. It's on two of his paws and his ears and his face. My vet in the area of Kingwood, TX tried different things including sulfur baths.

This new vet in Houston went over his records and wants to check his blood again because of possible kidney stuff and will  have a  biopsy done this week. The other vet did not know what was causing the crusty lesions. This new vet seems to think its Pemphigus.

He's nearly 15. I want to know if anyone here has dealt with it and how did you treat it. I want him to be more comfortable, he's always itchy. He eats, drinks and goes to the litter box as normal. We don't have an official diagnoses yet, but I really want to know what to expect.

I'm especially emotional right now because I had my current pdoc take me off Effexor. I live with MDD I've been going through the withdrawals for the last several days. So I really hate that this is happening right now. It will be a relief to get a diagnoses.

Please give me some advice on how to make him more comfortable and any creams I can use to help him feel better.

This is a potentially fatal disease that needs to be treated with corticosteroids.  A definitive diagnosis is done by biopsy of the skin.   2 good articles below.

That's great.

I need to know if anyone has suggestions for a cream I can use on home for itch relief while I wait to get to the vet.

Please let me know. Thanks
