So one of my two kittens, Mr. Bean, is about 5-6 months old.  He had originally had some issues with peeing and pooping in the tub, even when fresh box of clean litter is right there in the bathroom.   Switched up the litter, added another box to the house, and started leaving 1-2 inches of water in the tub.  This worked, for a while.  Several weeks later he peed in my bed, and it was a LOT of pee, not spraying.  Next day he pooped on a 2nd, new, clean comforter, in my bed.     Now I keep them locked out of the bedroom all day long, except when I am in there at night.

I had made a Vet appt while all this was happening (this was a few weeks ago) but before I could even go, my 2nd kitten vomited up many full adult roundworms.  So the vet visit the next day was more dealing with that, and they checked Mr Bean for crystals or signs of UTI and saw none.   We THOUGHT maybe the worms (possibly in both cats) were the cause of some of this (as they can cause discomfort, diarrhea, etc) even though this particular kitten did not test positive for worms and I never saw signs of them besides the watery poo (which has since now subsided)

However i woke up  this morning and noticed he peed in the bed again, this time while I was in it sleeping.   At the same time I can see they BOTH used the box overnight for pooping as well, and they both use both litterboxes all the time (daily) for peeing in.     I have been using the same litter and they seem to have liked this stuff the most and not tracking it around (natures miracle pine)

Both are neutered both are under 6 months, and I have had them both since they were less than 3 months so there is no marking going on, plus these are full-on pees not spraying.

I will take him back to vet again but its getting ridiculous.   I also live in a small condo so the boxes are close and very easy for them to get to.

He shows no signs of pain when he is going, he seems to be fine with the litter type.  I can understand a cat wanting to take the lazy route and pee in a nice smooth clean tub, or a soft warm comforter on a bed... but while I am sleeping in it?  This takes it to a whole new level and I have tried everything for months and cannot figure out whats wrong with this cat.  Everything else seems totally healthy and normal.

are there stray kitties visible from your windows? this sounds like a territory thing. peeing on bedding can either be medical or territorial. how does he get along with your other cat?

has there been any changes in your home in the past few months?

Both cats were adopted at a very young age (less than 3mo) and within about 1 month of each other (got one in sept, one in oct.).  They both get along super well and they play and sleep together like brothers.

Mr Bean (the one with the litterbox issue) was having the issues going in the tub, for like 1month or more  before I brought the other cat into the house.

No serious changes around the house at all.  He doesn't meow or seem in pain when he goes, and he uses the litterbox mostly,

He seems to have "litter" issues so I've gone through multiple attempts at changing his litter type and had to alter the amount of litter I was putting in as he likes to dig a hole to China and get all dusty when pooping.   Solved that by using less litter.  They seem to like the pine litter and clay (normal) litter the best, and likes the walnut shells the least so I stopped using those.  That was a while ago though.

There are two boxes and he doesn't seem to prefer one vs the other for peeing vs pooping either.

Both are still pretty young and very outgoing happy cats.

Another thing I noted is both times this happened, although weeks apart, his water bowl was nearly empty, as if he drank a TON of water before or after.

Now there is a 2nd kitten that also drinks from there but still its never that low so I thought it interesting that he seems to have drank tons of water both times he peed in the bed

wonder if he was dreaming so deep that he didn't wake up in time...maybe get some doggy pee pads and put one or two under him when he's sleeping on your bed? Do you know if any strays are handing around outside or another animal that he sees?

He cannot see any other cats as we live on the 3rd floor of a condo, with no windows that would allow him to see any cats,  During summer months he can occasionally see one outside, below, when he is out on the balcony.  But it has been at least a month or more since he would have seen one.

He is about 5 months old and neutered.  Both times he went in the bed, were BIG pees not just spotting or spraying.  Also both times it seemed he had drank way more water than normal.   He pooped in the bed once in between too.

He used to have this issue before, in the bathtub.  I started leaving water in there which prevented him from using the tub, but now the bed is his occasional "other spot" which is awful.  I kept him locked out of the bedroom except for at nighttime, as him peeing in the bed while I am in it, is new and unexpected.

He also always spent a ton of time digging and scratching in and on the box, both before and after going.  Still does. But he just scratches the side/edge of the box for long periods, and never covers anything.

Does he have to sleep with you? Our cats do not sleep with us, ever. They are allowed in the bedroom during the day, but never unsupervised.

Its very difficult as its a small condo with shared heating and cooling for both rooms and keeping the door shut makes it really cold or really hot depending on the season so thats the main concern.  Additionally, he had never done this in the bed while I was sleeping in it.   I thought I had the previous issues solved (worms) and then I assumed he just needed to get used to using the box.

He still uses the box but it seems that he does so reluctantly.   He does not seem in any sort of pain, but he seems to prefer other places, if available.

Tonight he got to go out on the balcony which had a tiny bit of snow and he was actually looking to go in the small pile of snow in the corner.  I brought him to the litter box and he simply went in and peed like normal.    Due to his previously always wanting to pee and poop in the tub and now trying to go in the snow, I think it might be that it might burn him a bit but there have just not been any other signs of discomfort that validate it, plus through multiple vet visits they seem to think there isn't any crystals or URI.

Another thing he has always done is sort of squat down really low right up against the litter.   I imagine this isnt totally comforatble and might be the reason he doesn't like the box.   I have solved some other issues by using less litter and that has helped but apparently not enough.

Tried kitten attract and cat attract, and he uses them in the same manner as others (uses box most of time, but on these random few occasions he will use the tub or bed if given oppportunity)

Nope - can't see any other cats.  There are neighbor cats that they know exist, thats the only possibility.  but this cat has always had issues with peeing and pooping in the tub, and doesn't seem to like the litter.  He makes more of a dusty mess than any other cat I've owned.  So its like he reluctantly uses the box 99% of the time.   1% of the time if a bed or tub presents itself as available, he might pee or poop on it.

He was 3 months when I got him, then I got another 3mo kitty when he was 4 months old.  They are both super lovey- and happy.  They play, eat, hangout and sleep together.  They groom each other and never show any aggression that is not playful.

Also I noticed last night he drank a lot of water again, definitely more than normal. He didn't pee in the bed though as I put a smaller litter box back in the bedroom, so he used that instead.
