My 8 year-old male has colitis. He's only eaten Purina Pro Plan Veterinary EN food for years. This food is only available from my vet. My question is is there any other food that would be safe for him?

Thanks

I'm assuming this is basically IBD? IBD cats usually do best on a homecooked or raw diet, but sometimes can do okay on a high quality limited ingredients canned food like Ziwipeak, or Feline Naturals. This two sites have a LOT of info about nutrition and IBD.

Is he not doing well on this food, is that why you want to make a change?  Is he on any meds at all?

From everything I can find, Colitis is very similar to IBD, so maybe there is something in this thread that will be helpful. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/272920/older-cat-with-possible-ibd-or-colitis-how-to-treat        I referenced a link within that  thread that is no longer quite valid.  I still takes you to the correct website, just not to any specific page.  If you click on it, you'll just need to browse around the site on your own as they've completely revamped it.
