Thought I might share some winter pics of my Henry cat, my latest rescue. This fall he just showed up on the steps one day. He is or was a feral but is unusual. Most gentle feral I have ever known. No aggression, guarded behavior or shyness. All he wants is to sit on your lap. Even neutering didn't really affect him. One day I just picked him up, put him in the carrier and off to the vet!! When we returned and opened the cage I fully expected him to disappear as they always do for a while. But he just started to eat, stayed till dark, I put him in catcatraz.... no big deal.

So we bought two heated houses from Amazon, one for catcatraz at night and the other for outside during the day. These are great. About $50 but have a fleece pad in the bottom which only comes on when the cat lays on it. Henry stays toasty and warm in catcatraz out of the wind. It has two openings but I cover the back one with a blanket and take the plastic door off the front.

So now he is outside waiting for the sun to come around on him. He actually sticks his head out to eat food right in front of him!

Good job!  Henry sounds like he may have been a stray who developed the tough habits that ferals need to survive.

He sure has found paradise!  Love his sweet little face.

Blessing on you for helping him.

I have a few of those shelters too.  My boys really like them as well.  I also took the plastic covers off.  No cat of mine would ever use it with the flap on!

Henry looks very very cozy!
