Two of my cats have urinary tract issues. We feed a vet prescribed food (Purina UR), but are there any non-vet foods that are good for urinary issues?  The vet diet is very expensive (I have 4 cats that free feed, so they all eat it)  Any recommendations?  Thanks!

None. There is no dry food that's good for urinary health. The best way to promote urinary health is to feed wet or raw food, which gives cats the extra hydration they need. Feeding a kibble only diet has been linked to urinary issues, dehydration, and kidney issues, among other things. Cats naturally obtain their moisture from their prey, or food, so feeding an all kibble diet doesn't provide them the moisture they need, as they don't have a good thirst drive. The best thing you can do is transition your cats to wet food.

As already stated, dry food is always bad for cat's urinary tracts. Prescription UT wet foods on't have be used all the time (ie, the initial issue passes, in most cases large # of crytals in the cat's urine, you can switch to giving the cat prescription wet food every every few days-few weeks and normal canned wet food the rest of the time.

Yes there are some prescription UT dry foods, these have a percentage of freeze dried meat than over the counter dry food, but even these don't do as much good for maintaining urinary tract heath as normal raw or caned wet food.  The most important thing for cat's urinary tract health is getting them as much water as possible in there food because water naturally flushes out crystals,  prescription UT foods  has less of the ingredients that  cause crystals. (do a websearch on cat urinary tract health, any site that doesn't  sell or belong to a company that makes persecution cat foods will all say the same thing.
