We are stuck in the house today....snow, freezing rain and a Winter Weather Advisory until 4:00 pm. I doubt we'll even bother going out.
So I took some pictures of the house, decorated for Christmas....
The kitchen
I think this was one of Banshee's favorite spots when she was alive. She loved to nap on the rocking chair with the throw and the pillows.
My father made the little gingerbread people on top of one of the spice cabinets. The dishes are part of the Winterberry pattern; the rest of them are in the China cabinet. We'll use them until the end of February or so and then I'll put everything away and get the Fiesta dishes back out. The red dishes are Fiesta in Scarlet; I keep them out during the holidays because they go so well together with the Winterberry dishes.
I had to take this picture because Ms. Pepe is napping on the back of the chair. She is our 20-year-old. Her brother, BooBoo, passed away back in September. Of our original RugCats, she's the only one left now. Her mom, aunts, and Boo are all at the Bridge.
That is Rick's secretary desk at the wall. He brought it home from his parents' basement. For his Christmas gift this year, I paid to have it re-finished. The Amish man did a gorgeous job on it. But the glass on the door is still the original glass; you can tell if you look at it closely. We wanted to keep it that way.
And despite my complaining about The Beast, she really does not have a bad life. She's napping on her beds. At night, Rick takes the Kong bed to the bedroom and she sleeps in the bedroom on her bed with us (and man, can that dog snore!). During the day, she naps on both of her beds.
Pictures of the tree. The tree topper is a cat; LaRussa (Carol) gave him to us many years ago and he's topped our living room Christmas tree ever since. His head brushes the ceiling, despite Rick trying to push him further down into the tree.
I also put a wreath in the bathroom and hung a snowman trivet on the wall, too.
We all have stockings and we hung them along the stair railing. I didn't show them; we can't put any garland around the railing (the cats will chew on it; believe me, we've tried).
Thanks for looking!
Would you please show your pictures? I'd love to see them.
