Hi. So about 4 days ago my 6 month old kitten Luna jumped off my brother's shoulder and landed on the second stair doing down in our bi-level house. I would say the fall was about 6-6.5 feet down. Anyway when she landed, she must've landed wrong because she started meowing and she never meows (shes not a talkative kitten). I wasnt there but my brothers and my dad were all there and as soon as it happened they bought her to my room and she was limping as she walked. We gave her cold pack almost immediately for her to lay on. Since then we have been giving her a heatpack whenever she lays down to rest but she always moves away from it. I'm pretty sure she sprained her right back knee becuase when i touch or she hits the leg somewhere she makes a sound (not a meow but a sound of uncomfort) or swats/bites my hand away. She hasnt become lethargic. She eats good and goes to the litter and plays/is active. she doesnt run though its clear that she wants to. She also seem to get tired easier and wants sleep more which we understand and we let her because rest will help her leg. We also try to get not to jump down from places (like beds) so her leg heals better but she still jumps up and down the stairs from the basement to the top floor. The problem is that we cant take her to the vet for another 5 days due to some circumstances and I have been scouring the internet trying to find ways to ease a cats pain without medicine. Other than the heat/cold pack I havent found any. It hurts me so much to see my little baby in pain and thats why I'm on here. Please help.

There is no safe OTC medicine you can give to your cat for pain. Many Human pain medicines are toxic to cats. Only a vet can prescribe a cat-safe prescription pain medicine. Home remedies are posted everywhere online but you have no way of knowing if the remedy is safe to use or not and it's not worth risking your cat's health to try just to save some money.

Wrap the heat pad in a towel to prevent burns to your cat. Your cat may be moving away from i tbecause it is too hot for comfort.

Are there any low cost vets in the area? Or even a Petsmart with a Banfield hospital on site?

I wasnt even planning on giving her any kind of medicine dont worry I know how dangerous they are. I am taking her to the vet for sure but I can't for the next 5 days not until the 22nd. It sucks but all I can do right now is try to find natural ways to ease her pain. Also the heatpack I give her is always wrapped in a blanket or towel and she is also quite fluffy so I dont know what could be causing her to move away other than the weight of the heatpack hurting her or making her uncomfortable.

oh shes great! Just turned a year old a few days ago! They grow up so fast! lol We actually took her to the vet and found out she has a mild case of luxating patella in her knees. But we haven't noticed a problem with it since. She took the anti-inflammatory meds the vet gave her and she was back to normal after a few days. She been fine since! We haven't had any problems with her leg. The vet rechecked her knees during Luna's most recent visit and she still has Luxating Patella. The vet assumes that it will likely be there for the rest of her life and might eventually develop into arthritis. But since it is a mild case I'm hoping it will go away with age. Thank you so much for asking. This was such a nice surprise!
