My 5yr old 13.3 lb neutered male rescue has been eaten alive by fleas despite using DE, flea comb and vacuuming/applying DE to carpets/furniture. DE has worked great for my other 2 cats.

With great reservation, I used Sergeant's flea shampoo in July on him. I rinsed him for a good 5mins afterwards, towel and blow dried him so he wouldn't lick. And I didn't even leave it on for the full 5mins.

Less than 3hrs later, he started vomiting. I re-rinsed him and towel-dried him. Called Sergeants and they told me to use Dawn and take him to the vet. The vet found fleas still on him! His blood work came back fine except slight wbc elevation.

Tried switching foods. No luck. Doesn't matter what he is fed. Not like my other cats who vomit food that hasn't been digested, this is liquid. (No blood) As soon as he barfs, he eats/drinks more. He is ravenous. He is drinking normally and pooping. The vomiting tends to happen 75% of the time after he has been sleeping for a few hours. He starts smacking his lips (which is my cue to grab a paper plate to catch it) and then projectile vomits.Sorry for the graphic, but there are no chunks. A few times, while he was sleeping by me and i played a cat video with loud meowing, it startled him and he vomited. Always always several hours after eating.

Additionally, he has gotten really lethargic and hiding behind the toilet and seems quite sensitive to touch on his back half.

The vet gave him a steroid injection the beginning of Nov which led to an abscess 10 days later and after it cleared and drain removed, it came back again. Treated it 2nd time with Colloidal Silver and heat. It finally cleared up. But obviously, his immune system is messed up to have such a reaction.

4+months later - NO change. Giving him Cerena injection for nausea which lasts about 4 days. Find giving him 2tsp of food every 90mins-2hrs helps. Tried adding Slippery elm to food for 2wks, didn't help. Continuing to add turmeric and probiotics to his food. Doing partial raw and Avoderm watered down. I also tried canna-pet capsules but they didn't impact the vomiting but he seemed more playful. He is getting 2x weekly B12 shots which seem to help for about 48hrs. He is stabilized at 11lbs for the past 2 months.

Ultrasound revealed entire digestive track fine. (Both vet and i have said all along that this is connected to shampoo) Liver function, etc in labs is clear. My vet, like myself, is more homepathic-focused.

Anyone had experience with this? Any hope.of doing a detox of some sort?

I did some research and have re-written this entire reply.  I did some research on your shampoo, and it has one of the highest levels of complaints I've seen, 1 star out of 5 from the consumers affairs website (links below). Animals have been killed by this poison, being all natural is in no way meaning safe.   My advice, call the ASPCA's poison control hotline, pay the fee, and see what they say.  I know people who work there and they are amazing, taking 100's of calls daily fro around the country (that link also below).

I just started adding the turmeric in the past month. Nothing I have added or subtracted has had any input on the vomiting - other than the small portions. Ultrasound showed no inflammation at all thru the entire digestive tract.

We (vet and I) reported it. But I will definitely give them a call. I really would like to raise hell legally to raise awareness about this stuff.
