Hello, I have noticed my nine month old cat loosing due in a couple of places and it has me worried. She has always had very little hair around her mouth, but now I feel she has lost some as well as around her eyes. It is nothing noticeable, but as a protective cat-mom I can tell. She has had a tiny bald circle on the back on one leg for several months, but I thought nothing it. It has recently gotten slightly bigger, but now she has one on her other foot. The new one is twice the size of the original and it seemingly appeared out of no where.

I had a flea infestation over the summer (lots of ferals run through the yard) and recently got it under control with revolution. I'm wondering if the patches could be from the medicine or simply irritation?

She has also refused wet food since the day she could eat. She went from drinking her mother's milk to dry kitten food with no in between. I've tried getting her to eat more, but she refuses. Maybe she isn't getting enough nutrition. I feed all my cats Hills Science Diet and no one else seems to have problems. They are all up to date with vaccinations and she recently came back from getting spayed.

She is also a rough player with her mother so I wonder if her fur is sacrificed when they play. She's full of energy and has no problem scaling her six foot tall cat tree or hopping on doors. With how adventurous she is it may be possible she is getting into things she shouldn't.

I just wonder if anyone has any ideas what could cause this.

Could be from fleas, could be round worm perhaps, could also be a food allergy.

There are lots of things that can cause hair loss. I'm dealing with a similar problem with one of my cats at the moment. The first thing I would suggest is that you take her to the vet. They can do a skin scraping of the bald patch and check for things like mites, scabies, mange or fungal infections.

Once that has been ruled out you can start to eliminate possible allergens from her diet, but I'd recommend a vet visit first of all.

Please let us now how you get on.
