I've been transitioning my cat to a mainly canned diet.

She loves Fancy Feast and Sheba pates and does well on them.

I've wanted a higher quality food in her rotation but she vomits every time i give her wellness pates.

I noticed Wellness contains carrangeenan and her cans of FF and Sheba do not. Could that ingredient be what is making her sick?

At this point I am ready just ti give her only Sheba and FF pates because she will eat them and they don't make her sick.

It is very possible that the carrageenan is what's making her sick. It's known to be a stomach irritant for some cats.  There are many higher quality brands that don't contain it (some also cheaper than Wellness) that you could try.  I personally use/have used Nutro (some flavors do contain carrageenan though so you'd have to check which ones don't), Soulistic, Weruva's Cats in the Kitchen line, Whole Earth Farms, Hound & Gatos, and Merrick Puurfect Bistro trays (most of the Merrick cans have carrageenan but the trays/cups do not- unfortunately they are more expensive).  Nature's Variety is also supposed to be one of the best carageenan-free brands but they are pretty pricey and of course after buying some cans, discovered that my own cat hated it lol. Tiki Cat is another high quality but pricey one.

Hard to say exactly what's causing it but I would just not feed Wellness. It's not really high quality food anyway, it's more medium grade, IMO. There are lots of better foods out there worth trying and adding to your rotation.

I'lllook into some other brands. She will only eat pates. I've almost completely gotten her off dry food. She does eat wellness core dry food, but onlt maybe 1/8 cup a day. Mainly it is something for her to nibble on before bed.

For now I'll keep on her FF and Sheba pates and see what else I can find.

From the ones I've mentioned- Whole Earth Farms and Hound & Gatos are Pates.  Unfortunately most pet stores including independent ones don't carry Hound & Gatos so you may have to order online, however I recently emailed the company asking for free samples before committing to buying any and they very generously sent me 7 different 5.5 oz cans in different flavors, no shipping charge or anything.

wellness core (kitten formula in my case) doesn't agree with my cat either. neither does their dry kitten.

My cat hasn't been sick once since I stopped the Wellness canned food. She does well on fancy feast classic and sheba pates. I may try to find a higher quality food to work into her rotation after the holidays. She gets wellness core dry as a snack every evening, but she doesn't eat much of it.

People can say what they want about FF classic. But my girl likes it, it's the only canned food she'll eat consistently and it does not make her sick.
