Hi everyone :wavey:

Sorry for the lateness of today's question. I thought it was Wednesday today & only just realised that it's actually Thursday :doh3: :anon:

Do you buy your cats Christmas presents ? :rub: :present:

I do ! :D I tend to buy things thoughout the year. Usually, when I attend cat shows, so come Christmas they end up with quite a large pile under the tree :D

Not for Christmas but yes they are getting gifts!  Plus, Cocoa's Gotcha Day is next week so you know, one has to celebrate that too

This year I went a bit nuts.  They are getting:

A new Da Bird because they totally ruined the last one.

A Ripple Rug

A new tunnel which I hope is sturdier than the last one.

A Cat Dancer because we don't have one yet

Last - the Kong Zoom Groom. Both love being groomed but Casper in his old age is developing small lumps on his back (nothing to worry about according to the vet) and I think this will be a more comfortable way to brush him out.

No wrapping - just giving LOL

oh yes, all the time. my cats are both still very young and we both love to play with them. Their favourites are still boxes and brown paper so whenever a delivery comes they are very happy indeed.

Not only does Hekitty get presents from me, but Santa brings her something, as well.  AND she buys me a present.  Somehow, she always knows EXACT:LY what I want!  The funniest thing about this is that both my friend Jane, who moved, and my friend Suzanne totally buy into this, and talk about running into Hekitty in Walmart, doing her shopping, and how on earth did she manage an American Express card, and on and on, and it is SO much fun!  Hekitty has a whole secret life, with various people spotting her out and about (apparently she went clubbing a few nights ago).  I could almost write a book about her.

Of course she does. Torties have magical powers.

Yup. I buy them presents all the time. They will be getting a new scratcher, toys and treats.

When DD was small, she got presents from us, Santa, Mrs Claus, the elves, Rudolph and the rest of the reindeer. She was thrilled that they all thought of her.

I used to buy my cats new beds every year for Christmas. But now I only have 1 cat left and she sleeps with me and does not need her own bed. I don't buy her a Christmas gift anymore as I don't know what to buy for her. She is 17 and is kind of old for toys.

No wrapping?!  Don't you know that's the best part?  (I don't wrap them either.)

Yes, though I don't know yet what I'll get Jasmine this year.  I may just give her some extra catnip on her scratching posts.  (Yesterday she was rolling around in the dust that had been swept up from beneath one of them but wasn't in the dust pan yet.)

Rick used to tell me stuff like that about Banshee, how she was able to buy my book, how she was able to turn the computer on and use the computer, etc. And BooBoo was always in on it, too. We'd be coming home from being out somewhere and Rick would actually call the house phone to leave a message to Boo that we were on our way home. Boo always texted him back to say that it was about time and that he and the others were starving to death and they were beginning to think we'd left them alone on purpose. You get the idea. He was hilarious.

Hydrox, the Old Coot, always gave me my Stephen King book at Christmas. It was tradition. When he passed away, then it became Banshee's place for the book. After she died, I said no more books. So now the M & Ms will go together to give me my peanut M & Ms in my stocking (ironic, considering those two girls wouldn't get along if their lives depended on it, but yet they can give me peanut M & Ms).

The kids always give Rick his Taz tree ornament. Since there is no Taz ornament this year, they haven't told me yet what they have planned.

So anyway, the kids each have their own Christmas stockings and they're all hung on the stair railing (with care!
). The cats get two cans of Fancy Feast and they each get a fresh catnip pillow that they love to bat around....the gang loves their catnip. I bought new meeces from Foster and Smith for them, too, and we're sharing them with my co-worker's cats and with their fur-cousins (my sister's cats).  http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3261+1897+2973&pcatid=2973 The meeces come in a cheese-wedge shaped box and we buy a wedge every year. The cats are willing to share their little meeces. Tabby, especially, loves those things, and she spends a lot of time yelling at them....she particularly likes to play with them around midnight.

The Beast already got her new thinner bed that goes on top of her Kong bed.....she likes having an extra bed that she can dig around and roll up to create a pillow. I'm serious. She will paw that extra bed and actually shape the thing into a pillow. And then flop down on her Kong bed with her head on her "pillow". She's funny to watch. She used to dig around on her Kong bed, but that didn't work and then she'd get exasperated and give up, flopping down on the Kong with a big sigh. She used to have a second bed, but she dug into it so badly that it was ruined and I think she missed it. She loves having that second bed. She'll spend 5-10 minutes rooting that thing around before she's satisfied.

So that's Christmas in the house!

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
Speaking of Meeses- both cats love those meeces. I get those in the cheese wedge on ebay and they have to have the rattle in them. Pumps eats the tails then bats them around. Honeybee carry them outside and bat them around the deck/lawn in the summer. Right now there's a good pile of them under the ****.

Floey used to play with the mice too.

Now we chuck them at honeybee when she's up on her high rise apartment. She bats them back across the room. It's hilarious. Pumps used to do this in her younger years.

We get them gifts all the time.

Chula and Paul got four presents this year but I'm afraid I already let them have them.  They got one of Eric's angled scratching  posts and a free wand toy he included, as well as a ball that lights up when pushed, and a cricket that chirps when pawed.  They have little interest in the cricket and none whatsoever in the light-up ball, but they are going crazy over the free wand toy.  The scratcher is a hit as well.   On Christmas, they will get some treats and a rare meal of tuna.   I think I might have spent more on them than on my kids.

I always store five or so of the mice in the kids' catnip container. That way, when they come out of the container, they smell like catnip and WHOOSH! the cats are all over them. Every single one of our furkids loves their nip and they go crazy. They roll in it, they eat it, they lick it, they lick themselves, they flip out over their nip.

And The Beast is usually laying in her bed, trying to figure out what all the fuss is about! She lays there and you can almost hear her thinking, "You know, I don't get this! I just don't understand this at all!" I bet if I told her that it was kinda like her eating feline Hershey bars (i.e. cat poop), the light bulb would go off in her head and she'd say, "ooooh! Now I get it!"

Huh. I guess the cats give The Beast a "treat" ever morning.

Of course! My three 'house cats are getting new Kickaroos, the toy they love the best. Outside cats (which are sitting in my kitchen right now  because of the below zero weather
) are getting 6 packs of furry mice, the toy they love to bat around the patio. My husband just shakes his head at all the cats in the house, he complains, but I notice he calls them up to his lap! He even asked if I had gotten the outside cats anything for Christmas, he didn't want them to feel left out. He is just a big softy!

...with the cats...
definitely, every year!

this year will be our DeeDee and Punky's first Christmas (not sure if they celebrated Christmas at their foster's last year). so Dude (aka, Jaspurr) and i will be teaching the girls all about Christmas, Christmas music, and stockings. Dude learned about Christmas from my little Snick
, he really didn't understand Christmas gifts until Snick taught him.

all three cats will have stockings with toys and a 'baby' in them. they'll be given their stockings on Christmas Day. on Christmas Eve, i'll give the kitties a 'medium-sized' gift to share, a Kong 8-track ball track, and we'll listen to Christmas music for a while that afternoon/evening. it'll more than likely be in early january before i'm able to install the new cat wall furniture -- their 'big' gifts. i won't do that until after the contractors have completed their work, and the cats have settled in to calm and peaceful again.
