Hi, I have a 11 year old cat with CKD, he is in a very good shape despite his elevated levels and his phosphorus is not high, actually closer to the low end in the range. So I give him treats almost everyday (not too much just a few) because he loves them and I love making him happy. But since usually treats are higher in protein so naturally in phosphorus as well, so I've started to question if it's wise to give treats to a kidney cat. Do you give treats, for example freeze dried meat treats to your cats with kidney problems?

Protein isn't bad, even for CKD cats. The goal with a CKD cat is high protein, low phos. "low" protein is an old school theory that has mostly been debunked. Yes, it's perfectly okay to feed a CKD cat treats, ideally you want to feed 100% meat treats with no fillers. So something like Bravo, Whole life, Fresh is best, Halo, Orijen, are good ones.

You might want to look at joining this FB group for CKD cats. Really smart people over there that can give you lots of advice on meds, food, and can look at your labs and give more advice. Highly recommend them.
