Hi everyone .. I have a few questions about spaying since maybe tomorrow Alice will get spayed .. anyways I have some questions.. Alice is 7 months old, she meows a lot these days knowing that she wasent a vocal cat .. Signs of wanting to get married.. Right ?? And also she's not eating except for dry food .. I don't really know why..after spaying will the meowing stop? And will she eat better ? Will she have to stay overnight at the vet ? Will she be in shock or depressed when she wakes up ??

She will be groggy from the anesthetic and that can take a while to recover from. My cat took a day to get back to normal after being put under.
If she's going into heat and meowing and acting up because of it, she will definitely be calmer after being spayed. It takes away the hormones that cause that behaviour.
As for her eating, she could just have a preference for dry food. My one cat Wiggies prefers kibble and it's a bit of a struggle to get him to eat more wet food. He seems healthy though, so we're not too worried about his 90% kibble diet.

Let us know how Alice does!

If she's meowing because she's in heat, then yes, the meowing should stop afterward, although it can take a while for all the hormones to settle down so it might not be right away. And if she's not interested in food because she's in heat (which is pretty common), then yes, spaying will help with that too. But if she's meowing and disinterested in food for some other reason, you might not see much change. But at her age she probably is in heat. Make sure the vet knows that she's in heat right now---it changes things inside so the vet might have to do things a little differently.

Some vets keep spays overnight, some don't. If you get her back the same day, she'll probably still be a bit loopy from the anesthetic. If she stays overnight she should be pretty alert by the time you pick her up. She shouldn't be depressed or in shock, although she will be sore for a few days. Just be careful of her midsection and follow all the post-op instructions the vet gives you. If she does seem depressed or lethargic more than 24 hours after the operation, call the vet up right away, that's a sign of infection.
