I had recently emailed several companies asking for free samples since we are starting to try different foods for my 6 month old kitten.  So far the only one that actually sent free Samples was Hound & Gatos (a rather generous amount to my pleasant surprise) and Fussie Cat said they would mail me coupons for free cans.  Others that I already tried and said they wouldn't send were Nutro, Weruva, Tiki Cat, Merrick & Whole Earth Farms but Whole earth farms and Nutro sent me a couple of discount coupons.  I also emailed Earthborn Holistics but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

What other (carrageenan-free) brands will send free samples that people know of?

I have not asked for free samples but I have received discount coupons in response to a written request after my attempt to download the coupon failed. I received a very nice written (hard copy) reply from Purina along with coupons for their high-end products like Purina Beyond Grain-Free and Pro Plan True Nature.  My cat has responded very well to her menu of Purina Beyond and Pro Plan True Nature.

You might get a positive answer to a request for discount coupons.  The one negative experience I had was with Blue Buffalo.  Once again the download of a mfg. coupon failed.  I wrote to the Blue Buffalo Company and have yet to receive a reply, 3 months later.

I've asked for coupons as well from those companies and a couple did send some.  I've heard so many negative things about Blue Buffalo so I definitely don't intend on contacting them.

I think your best bet is to visit a specilist pet store and ask for a handful of samples for each product.

Here in the UK we have a very responsible outlet named "Pets at Home".  I am convinced they would oblige me because my cat is not too keen on the expensive dry food that was provided when I adopted.  He is not keen on biscuits per se but dry food is essential for teeth hygiene yet few cats fall for that trick of mixing them with their meat

Always approach a local seller or a corporate store and speak to a manager explaining your issue.  They should treat you as a potentially valuable client.

Best wishes.

Visit your local independent pet stores and ask for free samples. Many will have samples of dry and freeze dried raw foods on hand. Canned and pouched food samples are rare. Sometimes they allow pet food companies to set up an info table and give out samples and occasionally cans and pouches and coupons. You can ask your local store if they have any of these.

@oldgloryrags88   Fancy Feast hasn't crossed my mind since it's not something I'd want to feed often but I suppose a free sample and feeding it every once in a while if she likes it couldn't hurt, thank you.

She's turning out to be fairly picky with wet food which is why I'm looking for the free samples so I don't end up wasting so much money on food she won't eat.   Thank god Hound & Gatos sent me a bunch, because she only ended up really liking 1 out the 7 flavors they sent.

@LTS3   unfortunately it is primarily canned food that I am looking for samples of, but I will reach out to my local independent store and ask anyway.  My kitty actually loves her current dry food which I plan on keeping her on for a while.

Fancy Feast classics are grain free and not a bad quality for 53 cents here.

Blue Buffalo has sent me coupons for $3-$5 off litter and kibble and canned if that is of interest to you.
