Hello,
Reaching out here because I am super stressed out and after 5 Vet visits in 2 months (and soon to be another) I am still no better off than when i started.
Got two kittens, about a month apart. Both were de-wormed by humane society (were given 2 de-wormings, 2 weeks apart.)
Oddly when I got kitten #2 he had watery poo -- stayed that way since I got him. Had vet visits w/ shots etc but they seemed to think he was fine.
2 weeks ago kitten2 puked after eating and puke was full of adult roundworms. This was awful but also a relief as I now knew the cause of kitten2's watery poo's! (or so I thought).
Took them in the next day, got them both de-wormed. Kitten1's stool sample showed no indication of worms but the Vet de-wormed him too just to be safe.
Problem is: Kitten1's stool never hardened. I even started seeing little bit of blood around his butthole and in his stool. This AM I saw him poo and it was really watery (disgusting) and towards the end, it was red with blood as he finished poo-ing.
I am about to give both kittens their 2nd de-worming on Friday. Cats have not puked nor have I seen any adult roundworms in puke or stool since the day that we de-wormed them (last friday).
Note: I have stuck with the same food the whole time (blue buffalo kitten dry food and wet food but I stopped with the wet food a few days ago thinking that might help the stools. It didn't.
Is it possible this is just the 2nd batch of roundworms forming this past 2 weeks? I heard that after de-worming medicine, most kitten's stools re-harden pretty quickly (day or two) and lots of dead adult roundworms come out in the poo (the latter could have happened, i couldnt see any thru the litter tho)
The watery poo is causing them to step in it by accident and they track it everywhere, and its driving me a bit nuts. Help?
