Hi All,

About 6-7 weeks ago I switched my cat off of Wellness canned food to Weruva Chicken canned food (shredded). She did not like the Wellness very much and would often wake me up too early in the morning to be fed. I tried a few other brands, until I finally I gave up on pate. I tried Weruva and she loves it! However, I've noticed these passed couple of weeks that she hasn't pooped much, and when she has, it has smelled pretty bad.

It is Monday night and the last time she has gone was Friday night. This has me pretty concerned and I plan to call the vet tomorrow, but I was curious if anyone else has had this issue while switching food or giving Weruva. I also started adding some probiotics to her food to see if that would help. She isn't displaying any other signs. She is peeing fine and I haven't heard her ever go in the litter box and have any issues. She's still loving the food and eating it all. I did switch the food relatively quickly, but that was a while ago.

When she does poop, it is a light brown and smells bad. It's not hard at all, and is a bit more on the loose side. It has form, but a couple of pieces are a bit smaller and are pretty loose and not formed.

I would try switching back to Wellness for the time being, but I don't think she will go back to it now that she has tasted Weruva. She's crazy about it.

Any advice would be great!

The stinky, softish stool might actually be from one of the ingredients in the Weruva...possibly potato starch?  I'm not sure WHICH Weruva you are serving up...not all of them have that, but many of them do.

You might try adding in a little bit of canned pumpkin if you suspect she's constipated.  One teaspoon up to 3 times per day.  Just mix it into her canned food and see what happens.  Some cats don't mind...others do
.  Mine don't like it, so I give them a little Miralax when I witness then straining with no results in the box.  1/8 teaspoon dissolved in a little water, then mixed into their food.  Normally one dose will work if they aren't chronic.
