I am American writer living in Canada, and recently got my first cat. rather, my first cat got me. This is how.
Well, thanks to a rodent problem here at the cottage, I went to th SPCA to get a cat. I'd wanted Josie, a flame point siamese mix who was very sweet... but then this huge, saucy cat chased her away from me in the cat room. She proceeded to follow me around for my whole visit.
I was still determined to get Josie when the shelter worked opened the crate and Snickers ran to get in.
So, it seems, Snickers having insisted on being my cat, I left with this 15 lb hooligan.
She got comfortable right away, napping on my bed by Day 2, sleeping next to me through the night by Day 3. She follows me around all day and is pretty well-behaved, despite the shelter's warnings that she was rowdy with them
