Hi all! We took our 2 month old baby kitty to the vet the other day. She tested his stool sample, and even though they didn't find any parasites in it, his stool has been loose since we adopted him a week ago, so she gave us some meds to give him once a day to help with that. She also said that he is a bit skinny and suggested to feed him wet food for a while, because he'd eat a larger amount of it before the other cats get to it. I had some canned food at home since we had to rush that day and I didn't get a chance to go to the store to get kitten food in cans for him. He ate it with gusto. Today his tummy feels bloated, though it doesn't seem to bother him. I am wondering if this is due to him eating cat food and not kitten food, or the meds he is getting to settle the diarrhea? I didn't give him any more meds today, and we got canned kitten food. Should I be concerned? Should I stop the meds? I haven't given him the daily dose today, and the vet's office is closed on weekend.

Thanks for your advice!

Since you didn't get any response, what did you do?  Did you call the Vet's office first thing this morning?

Normally we are not going to advise you to go against what your Vet has advised on medication, simply because we are not clinicians, so if this happens again and you need to know whether or not to stop a medication, you probably need to contact your Vet's after hours care phone number.  (sometimes that ends up being an emergency Vet's number
)

I will say that I doubt his big tummy was because of eating ADULT food vs kitten food.  There isn't that much difference that eating one or two cans should cause that.  It may have been simply that he over ate on it though
.  What did the Vet say?
