Hi everyone,

Today I did something stupid. I googled something my cat was doing. And now I'm worried that she may have feline hyperaesethia syndrome! I know none of you are vets (or even if you are, you can't diagnose her without having a relationship with myself and actually seeing her in person). What I'm hoping is that someone that has had personal experience with FHS can tell me if this behaviour looks familiar and I should be worried. I work at a veterinary hospital, and I'll be bringing her in the next time I'm in (Tuesday). Any words would be a great comfort!

I agree that something seems to be bothering her. It could be so many things though. Off the top of my head, I would check for fleas, whether she needs to be dewormed, and if her anal glands are possibly bothering her.

So I took her to the vet. He has no idea what's going on with her! Anal glands are fine, no fleas, no worms (they get de wormed every few months even though they're indoor cats because I work a vet hospital and you never know what I'm bringing home). We took X-rays of her pelvis and everything looks fine. We're trying her on some Buprenorphine and rest for the next few days to see how she does. I guess the next thing would be blood work if she keeps doing it. I'm happy that FHS was ruled out but still worried about my little girl.
