Hello all,

I have a question about Yesterdays News cat litter.

It is easy to scoop out poop but urine not so much. it does not clump.

Is this normal? How do you get all the urine out?

Thanks,

I hated this litter and so did my cats. It does not clump, they hated the pellets under their feet. You're supposed to find the wet pellets but I thought it was terrible stuff. I don't like clay because of dust, so I was using a corn litter until I tried Fresh 4 Life eco-clump this week- it's made from grass and clumps really well, and no dust. My cats like the texture too.

The best clay litter I've found is Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal- especially the 'light' version. No dust, good clumps, but I didn't like the smell as it has a deodorant in it. Some people like it however.

My cats were fine with it. I hated it. It doesn't clump at all, you have to kind of just guess what to scoop out. The easiest way is to just dump out all the litter and start over from one day to the next- which is really not cost effective. Otherwise it ends up stinking so bad after a few days. We use Words Best now instead.

if I were to try a new litter, you can not just outright switch can I?

I've always just switched outright, but technically that can cause problems. If you have multiple boxes maybe try using one with the yesterdays news and putting other litter in others or something like that.

So glad to hear! My favorite part about World's Best is that I can compost it.

if your cat likes (or at lest doesn't mind) pellet litter, you could try switching to the liter breeze system, either with the standard zeolite pellets and pads, or with pine litter (cheaper and better odor protection, but a little more work, IMO).  Either way it is clean, low odor, and the urine falls into the bottom (to be absorbed in the pad or absorbed by the pine and as a powder)

i hated it they hated it. try dampening some with water and see if it turns into a scoopable digable dust. i have half a (so small!) bag left and i don't plan on using it.
