Hi all! I just adopted a new kitten from a friend's cats litter. They were unsure how old the kittens are but they estimated 8-9 weeks. I am curious as he is still teeny tiny with blue eyes. He was definitely the runt of the litter though, as his siblings were noticeably larger. We couldn't get in to the vet until next week, but curious to know roughly how old he is!

Looking on the pics, I would guess on 5-6 weeks.  Not a day more.   A little peculiar these friends didnt knew how old their own kittens are, and need to "estimate".

I think you're right about his age! I bought a scale and weighed him- he is 1 lb 4 oz which seemed to be approx 6 weeks according to some diff websites. It was an outside cat that had kittens, so I don't think they were monitored as closely as they could have been. I will have to be extra dilligent with the wee little guy since he is so young.

Is he eating wet food well from a plate? He needs dry kitten chow available too. He should be able to lap kitten formula from a dish, but never cow's milk.

He's a cutie! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Thanks! :) he mows down some canned food, and was eating my other cats dry food so I got him some dry kitten chow too. He has had a little kitten milk but doesn't seem to like it as much as canned food. How long do they need kitten milk for?

I recommend kitten milk for the first 12 weeks, but if he doesn't like it, he'll be fine with kitten chow and wet food. He needs frequent wet food feedings though - about 4 times a day while he's growing up. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I love the blue eyes!! They're getting green in the middle but still striking! I can tell they are thinking about changing colors soon though.
