Hi everyone, A few week back I took home a stray or feral kitten from my daughters house about an hour away from where I live,The kitten showed up on her back porch and my daughter began giving it some food, the temperature was very cold at night so she put a box with a blanket out and the kitten was using it,after a few day's the kitten would let her pet it, I decided to take it home because my daughters husband is alergic to cats, anyway I took the kitten home because as soon as I sat down outside with it the little thing came right up and let me pet it, now I haven't had a pet in years so as soon as I got home I made an appointment with the vet, meanwhile I went and purchased a litter box,pet bed, toys and food, I just had to keep her inside until I can figure things out. At the vet I found out it was a female about 4 months old,she was very friendly and loving to me and I did have her fixed and got her rabies vaccination and chipped ,12 hours later I brought her back home and she was great, she would sleep right next to me while I worked on the computer in the day but at night when I went to bed she would be up looking out the window and make noises at the door, she wanted out,but I wasn't ready to let her out anyway here is my problem, she got out yesterday morning and disapeared,I only had her in for 3 weeks and she is in a different place from where she was born and I am worried sick right now,the temperature is in the teens at night. Why did she run away? will she come back? I have notified the shelter and all my neighbors,I have driven up and down all the streets calling out,put her on Craigslist,I'm really panicking...Any help?

Oh, boy, so sorry for this.  She may try to head back "home" which is your daughters house, so I would definitely try looking along that route.  Alert all your neighbors and if you have pictures, pass them out.  You can try making posters to put up, too, and definitely use Facebook or other social media.

Was she by any chance micro-chipped?  That would help identify her if someone else finds her.

I will be praying she comes back or that you locate her.

She may try because that is familiar territory.  There's a possibility that she'll find a place to hunker down at night.

I would definitely spread her picture and info around as much as possible.  Call Animal Control or your local shelter, too.  Let everyone you can think of know you are looking for her.

That's great news. I'm so glad she found her way back. I guess she decided that your place is her home now. Congratulations on your new cat.
