You guys are good!

A one-handed single blade knife.

Showgirls and the like (nude or scantily dressed) sometimes wear something over their private parts. This has been used since the olden days. Do you know its name & what was its original purpose?

Either merkins or pasties? Merkins have been around since the 1450s, I didn't realise that they were worn by showgirls until I checked with wiki.

If the answer to Primula's question is "merkin," they were used for sanitary reasons.

A hairball is a trichobezoar.

Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. $27 million. There are a lot of different kinds of microscopes, I hope this is the one. It has the ability to make images to a resolution of half the width of a hydrogen atom.

Most powerful telescope?

Merkins is correct. Today they are used in some showgirl shows so that the girls all look the same. Crazy Horse in Paris, e.g.

Merkins were used more for deception than for sanitary purposes. If a prostitute had syphilis or something else nasty in her genitals area she would shave and fix the merkin there to hide boils, etc.

Late 1800s Louis Pasteur discovered rabies virus. Presume you didn't mean a computer virus.

Darn it - thought cashew tree would keep you going for a while. What a remarkable tree!
