Hey guys, I'm new to raw feeding but as I'm on a high protein diet of boneless chicken cuts, I usually have some chicken to spare each week

My 9 week old kitten is solely eating weaning kibbles (Royal Canin) and I was wondering if it's ok to add some raw chicken into her diet as I would prefer not to waste chicken. Maybe once or twice a week? She will still be in her 3 times a day kibble diet.

Answers I need:
1. Should kittens this young be introduced to raw meat?
2. Must it be fresh or is frozen ok as well?

Thanks!

While you could offer a little raw meat as a snack, you can't give meals without adding the proper pre-mix, especially for a growing kitten. If you want to start incorporating raw meat into his diet (which is awesome!) you'll need to use a proper pre-mix that you add to the boneless meat to make it a complete food. Something like EZcomplete, or alnutrin, are good options.

Ideally you should move him to wet food and get rid of the kibble, and then start adding more raw and less wet food. It's not really ideal to feed raw food and kibble as they digest at different rates.

With regards to age, yes! I have found that kittens love raw meat--they will eat it with a gusto that you rarely see for even wet food. As long as you're giving them a balanced diet, they can start having raw as soon as they transition to solid food.

I actually want to keep her on kibble because it's more convenient since I live in a tropical country and I can't be around all the time to clear uneaten food or serve food on time. This is why kibble works for me. So I guess I should not give her raw food then?

Would fresh be better or is frozen ok?
