My ex girlfriend got me a Ragdoll from a breeder who was certified and claimed both parents were pure; though, he has none of the color(s) unique to the breed. His disposition is very affectionate and on par of their behavior. Out of the blue one day he brought his toy to me in bed, I threw it into the hallway, and he retrieved it - ever since then we play a game of fetch every other day or so. He defiantly goes limp when held, cries for me everytime he wakes.

His weight has me puzzled, however. He was the runt of his litter and at 3 months he was two and a half pounds. Now he is just over 5 months and 5.5 pounds.

Also, we had him altered at 3 months.

I have a picture of his 4th month, and will take another on his 6th, which is 2 weeks away on Christmas - ironic enough.

The second is more recent.

Well, unless the breeder gave you valid papers (which I'm thinking they didn't since he does NOT look like a Ragdoll at all) then I'd say your ex girlfriend was definitely scammed. Unfortunately that happens a lot with Backyard Breeders.

He is a very cute Domestic Long Hair though!

We have been in consistent contact. She breeds bengels and I've seen solid Ragdolls. They are more classical to the breed, apparently.
We will be asking for papers of the parent cats.
Thank you. If we were scammed we have all the texts

Majestic Ragdolls dot com claims there to be solid one color Ragdolls and FloppyCats dot com says that solid colors are a newer color.

The question is if  the breeder does breeds the usual ragdolls or the solid colored ragdolls.   If she DOES  breeds solid ragdolls it should be OK.   And a breeder has almost always some of not really show quality, whom are sold cheaper as "pet quality".

On the first pic he seems to be chocolate- colored. Is this correct?

He was very dark when we first got him - though, now he has started turning brown or chocolate [as you have coined] in spots like his chest and slight tint on his front legs and now his sides and the mane that creeps around his neck. He has a white patch underneath his chin too. His face has stayed dark. The older he gets the longer his tail gets and fluffier, not to mention the fur overall (his chest is starting to look beautiful.) Notably, his coat lacks  I should also note that his eyes were green then started turning blue toward the pupil and is slowly moving outward.

What I know about Ragdolls, is that they are breeding them as solid coats also.  Not as desired, but I've seen many at various catteries online; also bi-colors and lynx points.

@MajinCasey  Your boy is quite stunning; I'd grab him in a second lol.  If his papers look in order most likely he is purebred but if the breeder is balking at providing proof assume he's only partial Rag  Papers can be forged BTW, and it's important to check with a few of the sites where qualified and trusted (usually!)  breeders are certified such as TICA.
