Hello,

A friend of mine just spotted something on his cat's arm but isn't sure what it is or how it came to be. The white Angora kitten lives with a Persian thats around 4 months older than him. They playfully chase each other all day and bite each other all over. I've attached a picture of the problem. Could it be from the Persians biting? Or is it something dermalogical?

Please help.

If you have access to a black light, try shining it on that lesion to see if it glows green.  If it does, it is definitely fungal and you should see your vet for treatment.  If you don't have access to a black light, you should probably let your vet check it just in case it's ringworm.  If she can't afford a vet visit, perhaps she could bathe the kitten in a pet shampoo that combines ketoconozole with chlorhexadine and kills bacteria and fungi.  There is one called KetoChlor and another called PhytoVet CK, and you can Google them.  It's probably NOT ringworm, but it's better to be sure about it because once it spreads, it is much harder to get rid of, and you can get it too.
