I love that Ginger and Amira get along so well. They clearly knew it was meant for Amira to be a part of the family [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

Lea, you are so amazing to make sure that Amira gets a healthy re-start in life by getting her vaccinated and spayed. This story has really warmed my heart. Thank you for joining us and sharing YOUR Amira with us [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Amazing that some neanderthal most likely dumped such a lovely animal. :(
People who dump any animal sadden me. I can't imagine how scared she was.

Welcome Amira and Lea!  Oh, Lea, you're in for such a treat now.  *Once you go CAT...you never go back!* I always say.  What a pretty girl Amira is!  Hope you enjoy it here at TCS -- lots of fellow cat lovers! :wavey:
Lol thanks, that is such a cute saying!

Thank you. Vaccinations and vet work should be necessities to all pet owners. I'm happy to see so many animal lovers here! [emoji]9786[/emoji]

She's absolutely beautiful!  I guess she knew exactly who to go to for help - and she made a good decision.  I'm glad you didn't get her declawed - it's just such a cruel thing to do!  Nail caps can be a pain in the butt, but they're much more humane.  I only tried them once and they didn't work out so well - they were a pain to put on and fell off within days.  I probably did it wrong.  I clip Murphy's nails once in awhile because he loves to knead my scalp and it's not pleasant to have sharp nails digging into me.  And I clip Connor's nails because his get so long, they've gotten caught in the carpet and broken off and I'm sure that was painful.  I don't bother with Mickey's.  So what if they scratch some furniture?  It's just stuff.  Replaceable and I'm not worried about having a Martha Stuart home anyway.

At first the nail caps were a little strange and I'm sure felt "foreign" to her but luckily she started wearing them when she was quite young. She has adjusted and is very used to them now. They only fall off when her nails out grow them which means it's time for a pedicure and new caps. She was without any nail caps once before while waiting for new ones to arrive and she wasn't used to having her nails stick to everything. Amira would freak out and entangle them even worse into anything fabric. So now she's definitely not used to being without them. As I said this was the only humane alternative to declawing and maybe nail caps aren't the best for grown cats already set in their ways. As for Amira, she can't handle her claws without them lol.

The cat I used them on was half feral so it was quite an ordeal.  She got out on us twice, even though I tried to be insanely careful opening the door.  The second time we never found her.  I was heartbroken.  I'm hoping she was ok and managed to survive by hunting and whatnot, but I have no idea. I went to every house within a 6 block radius asking about her and looked for 6 months before giving up.  :(  But, the nail caps had already fallen off so she was prepared to defend herself.

Aww [emoji]128546[/emoji] I'm so sorry to hear that. But yes, the caps are probably not cut out for half feral kitties. Usually house cats can adjust quite well though, they usually forget they have them on within 48 hours. I do hope your cat is alright wherever she is. [emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji]

It was 8 years ago.  In the desert.  The first time she got out, I found her eating a lizard a few blocks away so I know she could hunt.

Well at least you know she can take care of herself. She's a natural survivor. [emoji]128049[/emoji][emoji]9994[/emoji]

Welcome To you & your sweet new little girl, She is a beauty! I'm so glad she & Ginger get along with no problems. That's a blessing.

I was adopted by both my kitties. Angel was my first.
He was my "soul kitty" & crossed the Rainbow Bridge last February 5th, due to lymphoma, despite 2 months of chemo.

Just about 7 months later, (this past labor day wknd) ,I was unexpectedly adopted again by a little girl this time. Her name is Sammy. (originally "Samuel" until I found out she's a Samantha!) LOL!

Angel was my first kitty too. You will learn SO much on this site. I know I sure did!  As well as make lots of wonderful, supportive new friends!

I'm sorry about Angel's passing, that's really too bad [emoji]128532[/emoji]. But thank you for the kind msg. I'm already learning a lot and am very happy with Amira. She's just gotten over an ear infection and is back to normal. This is definitely different than caring for a dog lol but it's a fun adventure. [emoji]128513[/emoji]

Thank You. Yes, I miss him a lot!  You are welcome. I'm glad you found us, because yes, as you said, it's very different than caring for a dog. Kitties can be so "delicate" in a lot of ways. LOL!

Welcome Lea- What a great story. Amira may not know it but she hit the jackpot when she found your front door.Like you , I was just a dog person when I got my first kitten.I didn't even know what to do with him...fast forward many years and I have 3 cats and feed ferals. There was a hidden cat person in me all along. You picked the right forum in TCS. There are so many great people here, tons of fabulous advice and support when you need it .

Yes, I had taken her to the vet on the 3rd for her shots and a spay. She's on her 5th day of recovery. [emoji]9786[/emoji]
It sounds like you are a natural cat mom. You have taken care of all her needs. Thank you so much for taking her in. She is a beauty.

Thanks, this really is a nice site. I couldn't believe it myself but I enjoy having a cat around and was actually considering getting a second cat! Lol I guess cat-lady syndrome is contagious.
