Does feliway help when a cat misses a human?

I had another thread asking a while back for help with a cat that doesn't eat very much when I'm not home. I'm prepping to leave for a week over the holidays, and will not be taking Tempura with me.

Tempura essentially does not eat very much/at all if I leave for travel. It can be wet or dry, she eats a few nibbles (dry is more obvious, since I have an automatic feeder, whatever is dispensed builds up). Even during the workday this is pretty obvious, she won't finish her all food unless I'm literally physically in the house.

I'll be having two housemates taking care of her, which she knows and likes fairly well. I'll be asking them to spend time/play/etc with her and try to hang around in my room when they have time to see if she'll eat more. I was going to go for a run and get some gym clothes really sweaty to leave with her. At this point, that's all I can think of so she'll eat a bit more.

Does Feliway at all help when a cat might be stressed over missing a human, or is it more for behavioral issues? I'm really just doing whatever it takes. I'm not even sure she is stressed or is just extremely used to eating with me around. Thanks!

Hi floofnugget, I would just try it. I have used their diffusers, it does seem to help, but there is no real data I belief. It's not that expensive, just go for it, you will find out from your housemates if her eating has improved or not.

If Tempura misses you that much than there isn't a lot you can do. The loss of apetite is just a symptom and not a bad one, as long as she drinks you'll be back after a week, she should survive this fine. Pity she doens't have a play mate, that is usually the best remedy.

When you're away, does she have access to your bedroom? May help her to sleep on your bed. And maybe have some especially yummy foods in the house that she can be tempted with.

Let us know how it went!
