Hello

I have two cats aged about 7 years old. They are indoor cats.

One of my cats has suddenly became scared of the carpet. She hasn't got fleas. The other cat is unaffected.

She will only go on carpet to eat, drink and use litter all be it briefly. She jumps across furniture or hides in kitchen that has vinyl floor. Even then she is on table, worktop or on top of fridge freezer.

She appears to get a fright for no reason and sprints downstairs to kitchen.

Any ideas?

She probably got a shock from static electricity and now thinks the carpet "attacked" her. Given time she might forget her fear. Our last cat got stung by a wasp that was on some grapes outside our living room window, and afterwards he was absolutely terrified of grapes.
