My cat has had severe constipation for two weeks.  He cries when he tries to poop then runs away from the cat box.  When he does manage to get something one or two out - it is the size of a small marble and just as hard.

I've tried hairball remedy, Vaseline and taken away all the dry food.  I found this product call "Lax-Ease" and ordered it.  But, I would like to know if anyone has used this before?  It is supposed to work one the first day...

I was planning on going today, until I found this product and wanted to try it.  Last year about this time, we had the same situation and the cat cost us $800.00 and they said they didn't really know what was wrong, so they gave us antibiotics.  They said he wasn't blocked???

What do you feed your cat?

I would not use any product without talking to your vet.

I'm not familiar with that product. Is it a product specifically for pets or is it for Humans?

Please take your cat to a vet anyways. The vet can determine why your cat is cosntantly constipated. Seek out the opinion of another  vet if the one you typically use doesn't have any answers. Antibiotics won't help at all with constipation sice it's not anything bacterial. Lack of gut motility or fiber or not enough water intake are common causes for constipation.

Miralax and canned pumpkin is what many people use for their constipated cats. You can ask the vet about these and what a good starting dose would be and how often it should be given. Canned pumpkin can be bought at any supermarket. You want 100% canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. Miralax or any generic equivalent can be found in any pharmacy.

Yes, Lax-Ease if for cats.  It is expensive.  I also use Miralax and hairball remedy.  I have used the pumpkin puree as well.  His poop is "about" once a day, but is very, very hard and dry and come out in separate tiny balls.  I have taken him to the vet ($800.00) and was told it is just constipation and add water to his food, which I do.

This is very frustrating!  Any suggestion on how much pumpkin to add to a small can of Fancy Feast wet food?  I've been putting in about a 1/4 teaspoon.
