My fiance and I want to visit a friend up in Portland, but I'm worried about leaving my kittens alone for even just the one night we'd be away. He thinks it'll be fine but I feel like a bad Momma Kitty for leaving them alone. The sister is fairly independent but the brother gets antsy even when I go to the store for half an hour, so I'm afraid of leaving even if I leave out enough food and water for them. I'm wondering if I should stay home while he goes or if it'll actually be good for them having us away for a little bit. We've already started catproofing everything (putting away breakables, taping the garbage disposal switch down, etc) but I'm still worried as all hell.

Would you feel more comfortable about leaving them if you had a friend or relative come over to check on them while you are gone? Or you could pay a cat sitter.
