My cats are awake in the morning, meet me when I get up, eat, go potty, then go to sleep.  They will sleep most of the day!  They get up and turn around occasionally, but usually sleep until about 2-3 in the afternoon, get up, eat some more, then go back to sleep.  They are really only up and active from about 5pm when we get home from work, until we go to bed. Then they will often go to bed with us and sleep some more, although I do know they are up and down during the night moving around, eating, looking out the windows.  I think it is just normal, as I was concerned too, then learned cats sleep about 16 hours a day---and kittens can sleep more!

Mine are 13 years old and 2 years old.  Both sleep constantly!

I don't think it's all that normal for a young kitten to be sleeping all the time.  They are pretty rambunctious at that age.  Yes, they sleep a lot and sleep hard when they sleep, but when they are awake, they are very active.  I think you should take your new furbaby to be seen, as you should always do with any NEW pet, just for shots, and a general well-being check-up.

I was wondering this too. Both of my 6 month old cats sleep so much and I have never owned a cat. Good to know that it's normal for them to sleep like 16 hours a day :)
