My cats tail got the tip stuck in the door and the tip is exposed. He doesn't seem to be in any pain as he continued to eat breakfast right away. It had a little blood but maybe that's because the fur got ripped out. I cleaned it but any advice or will he be ok? The fur is still able to cover the tail at the end

He needs to go to the vet right away. Even though he doesn't seem in pain and it seems like a small thing, the reality is that there is a serious risk of infection.  The tail is an extension of his spine which means his spine is now exposed.  Also, he is probably in more pain than he's letting on. Cats are pretty stoical so it's sometimes hard to tell.

Please let us know how he does.

The vet gave us betadine to soak on his tail for a week. Twice a day for five to ten min at a time. This will be an interesting week.

Interesting is the word!   It sounds like there are at least two of you - I have a feeling this is going to be a group effort!

Whoa. Same exact thing happened to my cat. The mosquito net door swung shut and nipped the end of his tail off. The bone was exposed right at the end just exactly like your cats is. However my vet operated and had to chop an inch or so off to fix it up. My cat didn't seem to mind much but it was sure stressful for me. Im surprised your vet didn't operate though. Having it exposed like that, i wonder how it will heal ?

How is your cat tolerating the betadine soaks?  Hoping for a quick recovery.

First time was rough. This morning he just lied down and I was able to soak it for a full ten min. Gonna have to bribe him with treats

My poor kitty has a similar injury. He has been to the Vet twice, and the second tim ebecause he decided to somehow manage to get his cone off of his head and rip off his bandaid. The vet gave me some good advice, and told me the bone exposure may not need surgery. He goes back tomorrow for a checkup. However the procedure is going to cost me more than I can afford. =(
