Hi all I took in a stray cat to find out she was pregnant she gave birth this morning to 3 kittens last one was born at 9.11am uk time. I have kept vets informed throughout they have no concerns. She moved one of her kittens a few hours after giving birth now she won't stop following me and meowing she will keep going back to her babies to feed them. She is eating drinking nursing. Iv checked her over there are no kittens left inside all the afterbirth came out after each kitten. She hasn't got any bad discharge and doesn't seem like she's in pain so wondering why would she be following me and meowing

She wants recognition and reassurance for her job well done! Most cats do this, and will settle down in about 48 hours. Meantime, make sure all babies stay together in the nest, and have a heat source such as a heating pad set on low under a blanket.

Give mom plenty of wet food, dry food, and water. You can close her in the room with litter box as well if she continues to follow you, but spend some time with her if you can.

Congratulations! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Thank you so much each time she meows I follow her back to her babies now and just sit and stroke her till she's relaxed. She did move one of them into her bed and refused to move again so I used some disposable gloves to move the other two with her so they stay together. She has all her food close reach also her litter tray :)

Oh, what a wonderful time for you! My Vincie girl, who I took in as a straylso had babies but 8 months after I took her in. She had 5 girls and a baby boy. She let me pick them up and kiss them. I made a maternity ward in a spare closet. washed and bleached my best sheets for the big event My other 5 cats would go to the entrance of the closet to look at the babies. It was a wonderful time.

Enjoy!!
