HAhahaha we are supposed to get a dusting but looks like it's going to be more. One gal said that she hates snow because it causes power outages..I just said no it doesn't. heavy wet snow does and freezing rain. The temps are in the middle 20s so the snow is light and airy=it's the best snow to drive in as far as I am concerned....we have had snow for decades..why is it such a big deal when it snows?
I mean we have better equipment to deal with snow. We have cars designed to deal with snow. Just makes me chuckle when I see the masses flock to the grocery stores and spaz out. And god forbid we have to spend a night home without running around.

I don't know about you but I still have to go to work if it snows. And it is more of a pain due to idiots who tailgate in the snow..then I hope they run off the road! I wonder if they stop to think that if they tailgate it will only make the person in front of them slow down more..so the moral of the story is don't hug their bumper and they will go whatever speed they feel comfortable BUT then we have those annoying people who go 20 mph on a highway when it's perfectly safe to do 30-35. That annoys me. You don't need to go screaming down the road but at least let my engine get into 3rd gear otherwise it's always looking to go into the next gear from going too slow. So other than morons on the road the snow doesn't bother me.

Snowblowing and shoveling are just part of the course. And shoveling the roof if it gets to be too much. I actually like looking around on a cloudy day and seeing the snow stick to the trees...and if someone hung up Christmas lights then it makes it even more pretty!

So who likes the snow? Anyone??

It's sunny and 80 degrees here in the Sunshine State.

This sweatshirt sums up how I feel about snow and winter in general unless it is winter here and then it is perfect. I am 100% convinced that hell is cold not hot.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ok I ran out of HAHAHAHAHA @Winchester

I guess I am always complaining it's too hot. And I love the cold=BECAUSE I LOVE BULKY WARM CLOTHES! And I don't have to shave my legs every other day!!

And I am always overheating...I HATE the hot summer air..it makes me feel ICKY. And I love skiing. In fact I hope to hit the slopes in the near future if I can get myself into gear-we have night skiing at Gunstock. It's just big enough to scare the CRAP out of me and short enough to get a thrill. And not too expensive. I haven't skied in YEARS. I bought these nifty short skiis and found boots that fit my FAT calves. They are actually pretty comfy...I miss skiing and Gunstock is the only place I will try their black diamond trails.
They are not too steep. Just enough to be challenging...and when I get ambitious I drive to Killington VT. I LOVE THAT PLACE!! What can I say???

I'm with Pam.  Not every area is equipped the same for snow.  Sometimes we get blizzards and then some winters we hardly get snow at all.  Some roads never see the plows or get only a quick pass over.  We get decent plowing because there are 2 schools up the road.  I don't mind a little shoveling and having to bundle everyone up is more of a nuisance than anything.  We don't have hills for us to go sledding; although my kids try on this tiny bit of a slope we have next to our house.
It's the roads and driving I don't like.  Sometimes I have to pre-plan my route to get places based on what gets plowed and what doesn't.  We live on a country road so that can double my time to get places.  Those schools are a good 6 miles up the road so we might get better plow service; it's not necessarily great.  And most places i might "need" to be are not in the direction of the schools anyway.  It doesn't bother DH.  Which is good considering he's required to drive for work.  But that means he has to be out with the bad drivers.  We'll get blowing snow that turns a lot of roads to ice.  One time in particular people were ridiculous. The highway had blown snow packed to ice anywhere there was an opening.  People would be going 55 and then suddenly hitting the breaks to go 25-30.  And back and forth.  THAT could have caused a lot of accidents.  Fortunately I didn't see any on my trip home.  Where my husband is from it's more mountainous and plenty of the roads are narrow with  no shoulder and drop offs steep enough to roll cars.  My in-laws have had someone come down their hill and right through their fence into their backyard.  And that was just distracted driving.  They have curved mirrors to help you see at some intersections.  A little snow or ice can be very dangerous and disruptive.  SIL has had to park at the bottom of her driveway when they get ice.  And then when the schools close parents have to deal with backup childcare. That's not always simple.  I have a hard enough time finding someone when I have a doctor appointment.  I can't imagine needing care for a whole day.

I don't mind a reasonable amount of snow. Up to about 4 inches is OK. Maybe even 6. More than that at once, NOPE. We are equipped to deal with snow here, so almost all roads will be clear by a few hours after the snow has stopped. So the roads are really only bad WHILE it's snowing. Our first storm this season was bad, really bad, not in terms of temperature or amount of snow, but because of the wind. Something like 50 mph sustained winds, blowing the snow around so much that they had to pull the plows off the roads because of zero visibility. So we had one bad day, but by the next morning everything was fine. I would rather have snow than extremely cold temps, and it can't snow when it's too cold so at least seeing snow means it's not too frigid out there!

So just plain snow isn't too bad, in moderation. I hate ice though. And freezing sleet. Terrible stuff. I also tend to get sick of snow by the end of winter, when you've had 3 or 4 feet of accumulated snow sitting in your yard for 4 months, and it's all dirty and gross and frozen solid. Yuck.

It's always a little exciting to see the first snow of winter! It's been quite late this year for us. We just got a bit of snow last night, enough for things to look pretty but not for doing anything. DH and I are really into cross country skiing, so we're looking forward to a decent amount for that. Didn't get out much last season. I'm thinking it's going to be a mild winter here again, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Things I like about winter: skiing, not shaving my legs
things I hate: driving, having to bundle up everytime you want to step outside

I love the snow when I don't have to drive in it.  It's lovely being inside and cosy while it comes down and it's fun to go out and play in.  But it can also be scary.  One year, I went out in the snow to take photos, fell down in two feet of it and couldn't get up.  It was near blizzard conditions and even though I was only a few feet from my building, no one could hear me calling for help.  Finally I managed to get enough traction to get to my feet but I have always treated snow with great respect since then!

Snow and I have had a hate-hate relationship all my life.

Me- I hate you

Snow- I hate you MORE

Me- No, you don't. I hate you MOST.

Everything about snow is just awful.

It's cold.

You have to wear way too many clothes and still never feel warm.

Too many people cannot drive in it,

Black ice (proof positive that the devil created winter)

Slush

Shoveling

Having to dig the car out and warm it up

Insufficient plowing of roads (if they get done at all)

The stupid salt that they put on the roads that gets all over everything

The sun's glare off it hurts your eyes and can burn you. WHAT? Snow should not be able to burn you.

Frostbite

The cold biting wind that also burns your face.

Eternally dry skin

I hated snow even as a kid and for the life of me never understood (and never will) how anyone could like it. Getting a snow day wasn't even a plus because I knew that we'd spend most of that day shoveling the driveway from hell. it was a steep hill and I fell on that thing more times than I can count. Frosty the snowman is a demon. Never again. If/when I leave Florida it will be for southern California (likely) or Hawaii (in dreams)

I love the snow as long as I don't have to get out in it. I love being cozy inside and watch the beautiful snow come down. I'm retired now so I do not have to get to work anymore.

Hey I shoveled my roof three times two/three years back-we got a total of what 10 feet of snow that year? It was normal to have 3 feet of snow in the yard at a time. Yes I do remember being ticked off. that was the year my roof kept leaking. and when they put a new one on they never fixed the holes. I almost fell through my roof that year. Then I had to pay double to get it fixed-ripped it all off redid and and put down ice/snow black rubber backing-no more leaks-fixed the rotting boards...I was PISSED off was an understatement. Luckily last year I only had to get up there once. We have to dig out the chimneys for the air exchange/furnace if we get more than 10 inches. Or layered on top of each other then dig it out. Luckily it's a low sloped roof so it's not a big deal but it is a large area...and a pain to deal with...I love the snow-then those days that are 40-50 and melt it quick!!! It's been about 2 years since we had decent snow. I miss snow shoeing and walking in the woods.  I won't walk in the woods until everything is frozen-then I don't have to worry about mud and other ickies..no bugs. no hot sticky icky weather...my thermostat runs hotter than most peoples so all I have to do is walk fast to break out into a sweat..so as long as I have a hat/gloves and moving-It's not bad. I didn't break out the winter coat until this week. I have been trying to get myself used to colder temps.

Ive got pictures of Jon snow blowing and it was up to his hips. he's almost 6 feet tall. The funny part is Floey loved the snow. My angel won't be here to hunt in the snow. She HATED summer as much as I do. In the winter when we got a small snow=she would go out on the deck and chase snow balls=it was just the way it looked and she used to run around like a nut in it and chase the snow...or walk around in the paths we snowblowed for them. Jon would make sure there was an area that was cleared on the side yard so they could still go out and sniff around without snow being up to their bellies.....

Me, I'm constantly cold. Remember, I'm the one who put up a plastic ceiling over my work cube (so the heat doesn't just rise into the air, but actually circulates around me) and our maintenance department installed, not one, but two electric registers in my cube. I come into work in the morning and the first thing I do when I unlock and open my door is immediately go over to the thermostat and turn it up full-tilt. And it stays that way until about five minutes before I leave for the day. And I still have heavy sweaters on. My African violets love it. Heat and humidity.

I'm the one with an electric blanket on HIGH all the time. Rick says it's no wonder I get along so well with the cats; I hate being cold as much as they do.

I am expected to come to work regardless of the weather. So when it gets bad, Rick will drive me into work in Hannah (AWD), then continue on his way to his work. That way, I'm still at work. It's rather frowned upon to miss work for inclement weather. I got told about it a few years ago when we got 14 inches of snow and Rick and I got up that morning, looked out the window, and Rick said, "Nope, not goin'." And I don't make a habit out of missing work.

OTOH, we don't make mad dashes to the store for milk, bread, and eggs in preparation for a storm (unless I'm going to bake!
) For some reason, when it's snowy and windy and freezing outside, I bake cookies or bread and prepare some kind of chowder or stew for supper. I don't know why I think that way, but I do. Or I'll make an elaborate breakfast for us. I love to cook when it's snowing outside....there's something about looking outside my kitchen window, seeing the snow swirling around the yard, and knowing that Rick and I are safe in the house. I can't explain it.

I am not a Winter's girl. Not in the slightest.

And my litany: Belize, baby. The day after I retire. And I'm never coming back.

I hate winter & I despise snow. We got a bit this morning, but it didn't stick. The problem for me is that I don't drive & I take a 2 hour walk every day. When the snow turns to ice that makes me miserable as I am a nervous wreck if I feel shaky underfoot. At least now I have the sense not to go out in freezing rain because that stuff is so scary. Even with tracks on my boots & all the gear freezing rain is the worst. This past winter we had no significant snow until January 22 and it was great. When it snows in November it makes the winter so long.

Honestly, I HATE summer. So winter is alright with me [emoji]127784[/emoji][emoji]10052[/emoji][emoji]128518[/emoji][emoji]128076[/emoji]

Where I work, it's usually hot and steamy (working over a steam table is no fun, especailly when the heat is also turned on) so it's nice to be able to go outside and have it be nice and cold. And I only wear a coat if it's colder than 20°F otherwise I just wear a jacket or sweatshirt and long pants.

I will never understand why people like summer so much, it's way too hot for me!

I don't always enjoy driving in the snow but it's not too bad.

HATE winter.  HATE snow.  And especially HATE when it snows, then rains, then freezes.  So you either cross your fingers and hope the rain washes it all away before the temperature drops. Or you have to shovel heavy slush in the pouring rain, so you're not stuck with thick ice everywhere.  Nothing good about winter.

So far we've only had a light dusting, followed by a warm rain, so no shoveling required. But I'm sure it will get here sooner than later.

sorry Ladies..love the cold. 21 degrees this morning...and I didn't have to wear less layers..didn't wake up sweating. I could never sleep with an electric blanket. I use a thin quilt made for summer and Honeybee's blanket-stay perfectly comfy. I love it when it's 20. Then I don't sweat like a bull when I walk from the truck to the other side of the parkinglot in the morning and around the entire building..the cold helps keep me from overheating...

I have to try the electric blanket for Jon. He is always cold. I am always hot. I hate the heat over 65, He puts it at 71. YUCK!
