I have two lovely cats, the male is 10 months old Persian and spayed, the female is 9 months old Siamese not spayed yet. Both are in good health. I used to feed them wet food (homemade) most of the time, and some dry food every 3 days, The Persian eats both with no problem, the Siamese eats dry only, and when it's not available she could stay all the day without eating!!

So I decided not to get any dry food again and only feed them wet food, the first week was very hard for the Siamese that I was feeding her by force.

currently she eats wet food and begin to forget about the dry, the question is: can I only feed them wet food till forever, or should they get any amount of dry?? knowing that if the Siamese find dry food again, she will refuse to eat the wet Food.

I heard that Dry is important for their teeth? so can I replace it with anything else??

and I need to know the most beneficial food for cats at their age and latter.

  • I feed them (chicken without any spices with boiled vegetables (daily)
  • Poached eggs (once a week)
  • Boiled beef (once a week)
  • Bean without any spices (Twice a week)
Any other advice to a better nutrition?

Thanks,

Is the above list all that they are getting? A cat's diet needs to be balanced. Are they getting any canned cat food?

We have threads here that goes into the specifics about making homemade cat food. It needs to be supplemented

Cats are obligate (true) carnivores. They don't need the beans or the veggies to thrive. These are added to commercial cat foods for the owners more than they are for the cats. They also act as fillers.

Dry food does NOT clean their teeth. This is a widely believed myth. Cats' teeth are designed for tearing, not chewing and the food is not in their mouth long enough to do any cleaning. Dry food does not clean their teeth any more than toast or crackers would clean a human's. The best way to clean their teeth is the same way to clean your own. Brush them. We have an article here that gives a lot of information on how to do that

It's great that you want to make food for them, but you can't just feed them meat and other random items. You need to buy a proper pre-mix and supplements or feed some kind of PMR. And no beans! Cats can't and don't need those in their diet. Please put them on canned food until you do enough research to feed balanced homemade food.

I couldn't agree more with the others: cats need to be fed meat-based foods that are properly balanced. The most important thing right now is to stop feeding your cats homemade food that isn't properly balanced.

This is particularly important for your kittens because they're growing and need proper nutrition for healthy development. Kittens also need to eat a lot, which means you might need take more time to switch your Siamese kitten from dry food to canned food.

Canned food that is marked as "complete" (or something similar) would be a much better alternative to feeding homemade food that doesn't have all the nutrients that cats need. I looked on an Egyptian pet food site and saw canned Friskies pates, which would be perfectly fine to feed! Friskies pates are very decent food and cats tend to love them.

It also looks like there are many brands of dry food available: although I think wet foods are generally far better for cats than dry foods, brands like Acana and Orijen are highly regarded, complete diets, and they would give your cats the nutrition they need, making them a better option than homemade food without proper supplements.

You could feed a combination of canned food and dry food for now, while you research your options for homemade food. It's not a problem to feed cats a combination of homemade, dry, and canned food. Many of us feed our cats different types of foods, the main thing is that each food should be balanced to have all the nutrition our cats need.

Good luck! (And do you have pictures of your cats that you can post!? We like pictures.)

The OP lives in Egypt so premixes and such may not be available there. A prey model or frankenprey type raw diet or a home cooked diet would probably be best if the OP wants to make cat food.

Canned food can be fed exclusively to cats for life as long as it is a complete balanced brand with vitamins and minerals listed in the ingredient list. If the cats will eat canned food, there is no need at all to also feed dry food.

I found threads about cat food choices in Egypt:

Thank you all very much for your clear answers, although I somehow got disappointed :)
Knowing that here in my country most vets tend to recommend homeade food better than canned or dry, they also stress about the importancae of viggies to balance water in cats bodies as they dont like water. So its alittle bit confusing here that we dont have enogh knowledge in Egypt about cats diet.

Anyway, now I need to focus on the following points and please correct me if I am wrong:
- meat based food daily (meat or chicken)
- no need for too much viggies.
-I can depend on canned food with no need to dry at all.
- What about milk and cheese (alittle bit)?
- Its commonly known that sault and spices are wrong for cats, is this right?
- I need a source of carpohidrate (boiled potato or something...?

Waiting for ur help and sorry for the spelling mistakes :)
